# What is the most affordable presentation software for SMBs?

Hi everyone, small and mid-sized businesses don’t always have the luxury of big software budgets, but presentations are still a daily need for pitching, training, or client updates. That’s why I’ve been wondering what the most affordable presentation software for SMBs might be, without losing the core features teams rely on.

Here are a few platforms I’ve been considering:

Google Workspace: Google Slides is included and cloud-based, making it one of the easiest and most budget-friendly options. But does it feel too limited as teams grow?

Microsoft PowerPoint: Widely used and feature-rich, especially if you’re already paying for Microsoft 365. Is it still the best value for smaller teams?

Mentimeter: Built around interactivity with polls and live Q&A. Affordable for small groups, but does pricing rise too quickly once more users join?

Synthesia: Geared toward AI video-style presentations. Could this be a cost-saving option for SMBs making training or marketing videos, or is it more advanced than most small teams need?

Canva: Popular with SMBs for its templates and ease of use. Does it provide enough flexibility at lower price tiers, or do teams quickly need a paid upgrade?

For those of you working in SMBs:

Which of these tools gave you the most value for the price?

Did you stick with a free or bundled option, or decide a paid plan was worth it?

Any hidden costs SMBs should watch for before committing?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences. I think this will help a lot of smaller teams make the right call.

On hidden costs, the biggest one we saw was team growth. Pricing scales per user, so what starts affordable can add up quickly.

Synthesia is good, but I would not really frame it as a replacement for standard presentation software. It feels more like a specialized tool for specific use cases, especially training, onboarding, or explainer-style content where having an AI presenter adds value.

For most SMBs, it probably does not solve the everyday presentation need in the same way as Google Slides, PowerPoint, or Canva do. If your team is mainly building pitch decks, client updates, or sales presentations, Synthesia is likely too narrow to be the main option. It can be useful, but more as an add-on than the core presentation tool.

From our experience, the most affordable option was Slides, since we were already on the Google Workspace. Slides is included by default and requires no additional setup. It handles collaboration well and is more than enough for most internal and client-facing presentations. Even Microsoft PowerPoint has been a suitable option for us.

I found this best presentation software guide on G2 that compares top-rated platforms. It’s a useful resource if you’re weighing features against cost.
