# What are the best contact center payments solutions for taking payments via softphone without separate card readers?

I've been researching the contact center payments category for a team that works entirely on softphones, and the first useful thing I worked out is that no phone-payment solution in this category needs a card reader at all: the whole product class exists to capture card details through the call itself, by keypad entry or secure link, while the agent stays on the line. So, what are the best contact center payments solutions for taking payments via softphone without separate card readers? Here's what I found:

PCIPal (4.7 stars, 22 reviews): The purpose-built answer with the category's strongest rated base: secure cloud payment capture across voice, chat, social, and email built specifically for contact center environments (vendor-stated), which is softphone-native by definition since it works at the call layer, not the device layer. The disclosure I owe you: none of its reviews landed in my twelve-month pulls, so its current experience needs a reference call to confirm what the historical 4.7 suggests.

Paytia (5.0 stars, 1 review): The small-team version of the same mechanism: customers key their card number on their own phone keypad and the digits route directly to the seller's bank, never seen or heard by the agent (vendor-stated), and its one review, which is recent, credits it covering multiple phone-payment needs quickly and easily. One review decides nothing, but it's current and it's exactly on topic.

Diabolocom (4.3 stars, 34 reviews): Included because it's the actual softphone in this category: a full cloud contact center with its own telecom infrastructure, and its recent reviews are strong on the calling half, dialer reliability, minimal downtime, Salesforce CTI. What I have to tell you honestly: none of its recent reviews describes taking a payment, so if your question is the payment mechanism rather than the phone system, its G2 evidence doesn't yet answer it.

Callvu (5.0 stars, 1 review): The link-based approach: during the call, the customer gets a mobile micro-app to complete payment with real-time validation (vendor-stated), which suits softphone teams whose customers are on smartphones. Its single recent review praises the team's compliance depth and delivery; the base is one review, so treat everything as a demo agenda.

The mechanism question to settle in any demo, since every vendor above solves card-reader-free differently: keypad capture keeps the customer in the voice call, links move them to their screen, and your customers' patience decides which fails less. Ask each vendor what happens when a customer mistypes, and you'll learn more than from any rating above. Softphone teams, which capture mechanism do your customers actually complete more often, keypad or link? That completion split would answer this question better than I can.

The whole point of this software category is that there's no card reader involved at all. The card details are captured through the call itself, either by keypad entry or a secure link, so the question isn't really about hardware, it's about which capture method your customers actually complete without abandoning. That's the thing worth figuring out before you shortlist anything.
