# Does better ecommerce site search actually improve conversion rates?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Hey G2 reviewers and ecommerce researchers. Every vendor in this space claims that better site search lifts conversion rates, so I have been digging into whether product discovery upgrades actually deliver that increase, or whether the statistics just look good in a sales deck. I'm researching<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/e-commerce-search"> </a><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/e-commerce-search">e-commerce search software</a> for an upcoming piece, and G2's benchmarks plus reviewer-reported outcomes paint a more grounded picture.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">On G2's feature ratings, the conversion capability across the category's top-rated tools runs from 88% to 97%, against a category average of 89%. The top names behind those numbers are<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/insider-one/reviews"> </a><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/insider-one/reviews"><strong>Insider One</strong></a>,<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/luigi-s-box/reviews"> </a><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/luigi-s-box/reviews"><strong>Luigi's Box</strong></a>,<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/doofinder/reviews"> </a><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/doofinder/reviews"><strong>Doofinder</strong></a>, and<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/constructor-io-constructor/reviews"> </a><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/constructor-io-constructor/reviews"><strong>Constructor</strong></a>. The improvement reviewers describe is real but specific: more completed searches, bigger carts, fewer abandoned sessions. Not the dramatic uplift the sales pages imply.</p><ul>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/insider-one/reviews"><strong>Insider One</strong></a> (4.8, 1,410+ reviews): rates 97% on the conversion feature and holds the category's highest satisfaction score on the Summer 2026 Grid. It is a full engagement platform, so likely more than a search-only project needs.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/luigi-s-box/reviews"><strong>Luigi's Box</strong></a> (4.8, 430+): reviewers specifically report higher conversion rates and bigger carts from its recommenders and dynamic sorting. The recurring complaint is analytics that aren’t granular enough to prove which change drove the increase.</li>

<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/doofinder/reviews"><strong>Doofinder</strong></a> (4.7, 510+): reported outcomes center on reduced cart abandonment and fixing zero-result searches. Its conversion feature rating (88%) sits right at the category average.</li>

&lt;p&gt;I’d also look at zero-result searches as an early signal of whether search improvements are working. Doofinder seems particularly relevant there, while Luigi’s Box brings the cart-size angle into the picture. I’d be curious whether teams saw those search improvements translate into conversion gains fairly quickly.&lt;/p&gt;
