Totally doable now, the enterprise-contract-or-nothing era is over for basic process automation. The thing to watch isn&#39;t the sticker price, it&#39;s the implementation and &quot;success&quot; fees that quietly dwarf the license. Plenty of lighter tools let a small team self-serve without a consultant. Real question: how standard are your processes? Common shapes fit an off-the-shelf tool. Genuinely weird ones move the cost from software to the people configuring it, whatever the vendor.
