# How to prevent duplicate records ? From our test, user able to add same record although its already there. RR such as A, MX and NS. Haven't check other RR type though. The only so far we know PowerDNS do prevent CNAME duplication with error messages: Error: This is not a valid CNAME. There is already exists an A, AAAA or CNAME with this name. We like to have the same for other RR type as well. ##### Post Metadata
