# How do you protect your open source databases with IBM Spectrum Protect? We use spictera as it provides an open flexible agent less way of protecting almost any type of data using IBM Spectrum Protect. Just mount the Spectrum Protect storage as a mount point or drive letter on your linux or windows server, and use your prefered tool to protect the database or application data. Can be used to improve data protection by having continous data protections of transactional data, such as Oracle archive logs, PostgreSQL WAL log files etc. All file operations that goes via the mount point are translated directly to IBM Spectrum Protect Client API calls, so nothing is cached localy.
