For teams who've unified the student record, did a single system genuinely remove the reconciliation work, or did integrations between modules still need babysitting? And which platform made a change in admissions actually flow through to aid and enrolment cleanly? A single record moves the reconciliation rather than removing it: the data finally matches, and then you discover the definitions don't. Admissions, aid, and the registrar can look at the same row and disagree about who counts as enrolled on which date. The platforms fix the plumbing; the governance meeting survives every implementation. Where one system clearly wins is speed, a change in admissions showing up in aid the same hour instead of waiting on the nightly batch. And which would you standardize the institution on again? Trust gets earned in peak weeks. Registration morning, aid disbursement day, finals grade entry: the system that stays predictable then is the one ops directors defend at budget time, and uptime on a quiet Tuesday convinces nobody. The second thing I'd add is the peer network. Part of what makes the incumbents trusted is knowing three schools your size already hit your exact problem and someone at a user group has the fix written down.
