I also find the custom HTML editor to work really well. Additionally, the initial setup was simple, requiring just a script as I remember. The good thing is dat with the google extention you can easily see the variants for your test.

The visual editor makes it very easy to set up and modify A/B tests directly on Shopify without needing developer resources. Being able to test layout and content changes on specific pages (PDPs, homepage sections) and get statistically clean results without a complex setup is the biggest upside for our team.
