Lightweight WindSurf AI IDE That Runs Smoothly on Large Codebases
It is very light weight. This one is the best thing in WindSurf AI IDE. One can open multiple instance at the same time and it works smoothly even for very large projects/code base.
It imports all the settings and extension from vs-code so you don't have do the setup, which simplifies the initial step.

WindSurf has made writing routine backend code—like the OTP verification logic I’m working on—significantly faster, thanks to accurate autocomplete suggestions that understand the surrounding context. The interface in VS Code stays clean and unobtrusive, so suggestions show up naturally without interrupting my coding flow. I also like that there’s no separate integration setup required, since it works directly as an extension inside the existing IDE.
Performance has been consistently quick, with suggestions appearing with minimal latency even when I’m working in longer functions. The pricing has delivered solid ROI for me given the time saved on boilerplate and other repetitive code patterns, and onboarding was smooth because signing in through the extension is straightforward. Its contextual understanding of the codebase also stands out: suggestions often match our existing patterns, such as our Redis-based OTP storage logic, instead of producing generic code that feels disconnected from the project’s structure.

Wind Surf AI IDE is great for code auto-completion. The code suggestions are genuinely helpful, and the UI/UX feels clean and clear, which makes it comfortable to use for queries on related to coding. It supports many LLMs, and its accuracy in understanding the codebase is good. Onboarding in WindSurf AI IDE is straightforward and only takes a few simple steps. The way it integrates into VS Code is the backbone of using it for code completion.
