This software surprised me with how much time it saves on everyday drafting work. Smart Mouse and Smart Select have cut down a lot of the repetitive clicking I used to do quick gestures for filtering and selecting objects save real time on daily drafting. Smart Voice is genuinely useful too; being able to attach a voice note directly to a drawing has made revision feedback with my team much clearer, with a lot less back-and-forth over email or chat. Smart Plotting makes batch printing painless when I have multiple sheets to send out, and IFC Import handles Revit data well, which matters since I work in an AEC environment. It took me a bit of time to get comfortable with some of the advanced tools like Smart Select and IFC Import, especially coming from a different CAD workflow. It’s fast and easy to use. I frequently rely on the trimming and hatching functions, and they work well for my day-to-day tasks. I also really like the option to tile vertically within a DWG or across different DWG files, since it makes referencing and comparing drawings much easier. After updating to ZWCAD 2025, it makes it less laggy, can open multiple dwg at the same time as well. It is cheaper than Autocad with the same function and with easier license managing. While standard 2D drawings open perfectly, when I import PDF files for DWG conversion, scaling to the correct dimensions is a bit confusing and I need to scale manually. The DWG file imported from PDF is sometimes small, and selecting the reference lines can be tricky, as the cursor doesn't always go directly to the point, veering left or right at times. It's a seemless transition from AUTODESK and they have very good pricing as I do not need all the rubbish autodesk bundle with the software. The straight purchase option is perfect as I do not like subscription models at all and have changed a lot of my company stuff to other vendors because of this.

I need a basic 2D drawing programme and this far exceeds what I need in usability and features with a very well designed interface.

Having been an AutoDesk AutoCAD user for years, the functionality and seemless transition to ZWCAD was literally instant. I had no issues what so ever in switching while still opening and using my old AutoCAD files. So far, I have not encountered any significant differences between ZWCAD and AutoCAD for the 2D functionality that I use it for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
