Recommendations to others considering Zenmap:
There isn't much needed to use Zenmap and it's command line tool nmap. If you have basic/intermediate knowledge about IP network administration then you have all you need to use Zenmap. Both Zenmap and nmap are free tools so you don't lose anything if they don't meet your requirements.
One thing to consider if you are going to use Zenmap in Windows networks: the latest versions of Zenmap and nmap (version 7 at the time of writing) don't work on versions of Windows prior to Windows 7. In this case you need to use a version of Zenmap with nmap version 6 or previous.
Unix users should have no problems using Zenmap, and it is available in the repositories of most major Linux and BSD distributions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What problems is Zenmap solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Zenmap mainly as a network exploration tool both in my regular place of work and also when doing consulting work. Zenmap has proven as an invaluable tool for initial exploration of computer networks, both when updating a network map and especially when mapping poorly documented networks.
