Monitoring processes remotely by utilizing SSH tunnels. Analysis of heap memory and filtering of objects to identify the main memory-consuming components in scenarios of out-of-memory errors. Excellent tool for profiling. Provides specific information on memory or heap usage down to the granular level. Good assistance in identifying memory problems in the production environment. **What do you dislike about YouMonitor?** The UI needs some updates and remote monitering is little slow. **What problems is YouMonitor solving and how is that benefiting you?** YourKit assists me in identifying the areas of my application where performance is bottlenecked. Using a program that tracks memory allocation, garbage collection, and command execution times, for example, is quite effective. In addition, it can also make a detailed record of the problems, which makes it a very effective tool for us. **What do you dislike about YouMonitor?** Although not everything could be rosy, I can name that the only thing that bothers us about this tool is that the buyer interface can be a little complicated for new users and another thing that is a problem is that it is compatible only with certain operating systems . Start YourKit and it will display a list of currently running java processes to attach to requiring zero effort. The profiler can quickly give you an overview of common java runtime issues including memory leaks, distribution of time in function calls, and garbage collection statistics. Turning on stack traces allows you to dive in deep to which lines of code are the violators. You can also do detailed recording of issues. **What do you dislike about YouMonitor?** The UI is a little old school. It can be difficult to understand what exactly do each of the graphs mean on some of tiem series. **Recommendations to others considering YouMonitor:** YourKit has a free trial so it's easy to get started risk free to solve your first issue. Then each purchase gives you 3 licenses. **What problems is YouMonitor solving and how is that benefiting you?** Finding performance and memory issues slowing down java applications. We have discovered which lines of code are contributors to issues bringing our application to a standstill. ### 7. YourKit Java Profiler: Enterprise-grade Java Profiling and Performance Monitoring **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Janaka B. | Software Engineer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2019 **What do you like best about YouMonitor?** Ability to connect to a running Java process without any preconfigurations, for quick thread and memory stats Remote process monitoring via SSH tunnels Heap memory analysis and object filtering for finding the most influential memory hogs in OOM scenarios Ability to monitor JDBC connections, sockets, file descriptors and other system-level resources used up by the Java process; in addition to traditional memory/CPU/thread metrics IDE integration (e.g. with IntelliJ IDEA) via plugins **What do you dislike about YouMonitor?** Monitored process needs to be restarted with YourKit agent configured, in order to obtain advanced metrics Remote processes may take a long time to start displaying data, and consume several hundred megabytes of data while doing so Remote monitoring sessions tend to disconnect randomly; once gone, there's no other option than to start from scratch **Recommendations to others considering YouMonitor:** When monitoring a remote process, make sure to save your session so that you can load it later for further analysis (even if the actual connection gets terminated). If you're only interested in generic CPU, memory and threads monitoring, the free, pre-packaged Java Flight Recorder or Java Mission Control may be a better option than paying for a YJP license. **What problems is YouMonitor solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have been using YourKit to monitor, troubleshoot and performance-tune our Java-based Enterprise Integration products for years, including UltraESB (https://www.g2crowd.com/products/ultraesb-x-enterprise-integrator) and the On-premise Integration Platform (https://www.g2crowd.com/products/ips-enterprise-integration-platform). Every time, YJP provided us valuable insights as to the memory and thread utilization, and hot-spots in our applications and custom deployments. ### 8.
