What do you like best about VMware NSX?

What do you dislike about VMware NSX?

Steep learning curve and operational complexity layered on top of vSphere/VCF—troubleshooting micro-segmentation policies across many tenants demands specialized expertise, and Broadcom's licensing changes add further uncertainty to long-term cost planning. What problems is VMware NSX solving and how is that benefiting you?

NSX solves tenant network isolation without needing separate physical hardware per client—giving us micro-segmentation and consistent security policy enforcement across a multi-tenant private cloud. "Robust Network Virtualization with Cost Considerations"

What do you like best about VMware NSX?

I find VMware NSX fairly rapid and easy to deploy once you have an understanding of the VMware infrastructure. It allows me to tightly implement network security using the zero-trust model. It also supports infrastructure-as-code (IaC), which is really beneficial for us. Perhaps the greatest strength is being able to move virtual machines running on VMware without having to readdress IPs if they're in different subnets and data centers. What do you dislike about VMware NSX?

I find the high licensing cost of VMware NSX prohibitive, especially for new small or medium business customers. I also find troubleshooting challenging when issues arise with NSX. It comes with its own complexity and quirks at first, so it's not the easiest to get up and running smoothly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
