What do you like best about VirusTotal?

I like how VirusTotal provides insights by allowing me to upload a file and test if it's having any viruses, trojans, or malware. It uses multiple antivirus and malware scanners, making it a comprehensive database for potential infections. It's fantastic that I don't have to worry about scanning for a few minutes as it gives me a report right away if something has already been scanned earlier. The community score meter and community forums help me understand why something might be flagged. The setup is easy peasy—just upload a file and get the result instantly. What do you dislike about VirusTotal?

I'm not sure if VirusTotal has a standalone software, but most of it is based off of the web interface. I think if they had, like, a security product by themselves, which is, like, a collective of all these security products to scan the files, I think that will be fantastic. What problems is VirusTotal solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use VirusTotal to test files for viruses, trojans, or malware. It helps me feel confident in the files I download by using multiple antivirus scanners to identify potential threats. What I like most about VirusTotal is its ability to scan files and links with multiple antivirus engines at the same time, which significantly increases the accuracy of the analysis. I also value its intuitive interface and the ability to view technical details such as hashes, suspicious behaviors, relationships with known malware, and network communications. What do you dislike about VirusTotal?

Sometimes, antivirus engines can generate false positives or have discrepancies among themselves. Additionally, to access advanced features such as custom searches or deeper analysis, a subscription to VirusTotal Intelligence is required, which may not be affordable for all users. What do you like best about VirusTotal?

Another point in its favor is the abundance of contextual information it provides. Beyond a simple "clean" or "infected," VirusTotal presents a detailed report that includes the specific names of the threats detected by each engine, information about the file's behavior in a controlled environment (sandbox), and data from the cybersecurity community. What do you dislike about VirusTotal?

What do you like best about VirusTotal?

VirusTotal is a good tool to scan malicious things as URL, documents, and files. With the help of this tool, you can scan any type of URL and check if this URL is flagged by any security vendor or not, and in this way it will help you to analyze the security-related issues within the URL. The best part of this product is it has a larger database that connects to all high-profile security tools and then provides their view on your query. So by using this tool, you can be assured that the malicious content you are scanning has been flagged by anyone else in the world right now or not. Apart from basic scanning, it will provide you with complete details about your scan result as the basic properties of a scan like the algorithm used on that URL or File, file type, file size and if it is URL then it will unwrap the URL.

You can integrate VirusTotal with other security applications like Knowbe4's PhishER and take full advantage of this tool with that application. The integration is very easy and will take less than an hour to integrate properly. VirusTotal depends on other security tools, so if they fails to detect any issue then it also fails as it does not have its own primary setup.

VirusTotal also fails to detect zero-day attack-related files and URLs and it will give a green signal for that URL and File.

VirusTotal is helping ou to detect and take action on security-related malware and viruses. It is helping ou to detect and block the activity of any malicious URL, documents and IPs. It is integrated with our spam email handling software PhishER and helping us to scan all URLs, files and documents. We have integrated this tool with the PhishER and then it is making our job easy by integrating with PhishER and helping us to scan the reported emails very easily. So, it is resolving one of the tough job to analyzed the reported emails in an easy way. With this tool, we just need to click on scan and it scans all the URLs, Files, and documents present in the email and shows us the result of the scan. What do you like best about VirusTotal?

VirusTotal is a very good tool that will help you analyze the URL, datasheet, and documents very well. This tool will help you in the Phishing related emails that contains malicious URL and documents. This tool is very easy to use. You just need to copy and paste the URL or upload the file directly and it will analyze that URL, IP, or file and give you the result from top cyber security analysis tools like Abusix, Antiy-AVL, Acronis, and other similar tools. It will verify your data from 92 security vendors and then tell you which security vendor has flagged this URL or data as malicious. Then in the details tab, you will know the history of that URL, HTTP response, serving IP address, status code, body length, hash, and header and it will also rewrite the URL in its original form. It has a community from where you can see if anyone from the VirusTotal community has flagged this URL or added any comment about that.

You can integrate the VirusTotal with other software as well like I have integrated it with the Knowbe4 PhishER to scan the reported emails. It is easy to integrate and implement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VirusTotal?

VirusTotal has some limitations because it depends on other security vendor analyses. So, it fails sometime to detect a zero-day attack and fails to detect URLs with 100% accuracy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is VirusTotal solving and how is that benefiting you?

VirusTotal is helping us to analyze phishing and malicious URLs and documents without taking help from any sandbox. It is connected with more than 90 security vendors and shows the result of your search with the vendor details like which security vendor has flagged this URL or file as malicious. It is helping us to in deep analyses of malware without using the sandboxes. It is integrated with our Phishing reported tool PhishER and helping us to directly scan the reported emails without going to anywhere else. With this tool, our effort has been reduced a lot in terms of reported email verification and processing. It gives the proper details like IP, from where it is generated, and any other organizations facing the same attacks. In the details section, you will find the details of that malicious content like when it was first submitted, when last, and the last analysis. It will rewrite the URL in its original form. What do you like best about VirusTotal?

Virustotal helps organisations detect malicious files, URLs, and domains in our environment.

If you want to detect if a particular exe is suspicious or not, then you have to upload that file in Virustotal then it will give us an output how many security vendors have flagged this malware.

We can integrate Virustotal with SIEM tool like Wazuh and Splunk which will help us identify Malware.

Also Virustotal gives us Behavior analysis & Graph structure and results from other sandboxes.

What do you dislike about VirusTotal?

If you want to scan files you think are suspicious, then it takes a long time to scan file.

There are some features in virustotal like Scanning with yara, which is only available in premium mode only.

What problems is VirusTotal solving and how is that benefiting you?

Using Virustotal it saves our time to do Static or Dynamic Analysis in our sandbox also by integrating virustotal with wazuh we don't need to everytime go to virustotal and check it, also it provides API key to integrate virustotal with SIEM tool.

What do you like best about VirusTotal?

VirusTotal hosts more than 60 antivirus engines in one place, making it way easier to test suspicious files against all 60+ engines at once. I use it regularly, especially for files downloaded from the web. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VirusTotal?

As far as I know, the only web-focused antimalware scanning engine currently available on VirusTotal is ClamAV, I think it would be better to include more similar engines like ImunifyAV to help strengthen the coverage of this critical category. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
