Our representative, Lonnie “Ace” Price, is amazing and is always there when you need him. **What problems is Steno Court Reporting solving and how is that benefiting you?** Steno makes it easy for all of us to schedule jobs quickly and efficiently, either through the dashboard or by emailing their staff. We can see every job listed on the firm’s Dashboard, which helps us understand what everyone has going on at a glance. It also makes it simple to confirm whether someone else in the firm has already scheduled something for a particular case, and then adjust or cancel jobs for each other when needed. ### 2. It’s been a game changer. **What do you dislike about Steno Court Reporting?** My only dislike is the same with ALL court reporting companies. Every single one adds on multiple redundant fees but re-words them to disguise the double charging. It’s fees on top of fees. Fees to “package” the digital transcript? Come on. Appearance fees and then additional remote fees and now even more for in-person fees? Ridiculous. Unfortunately, Steno is no different there. RUN **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Law Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2025 **What do you like best about Steno Court Reporting?** They unfortunately answered the phone when my staff contacted them. **What do you dislike about Steno Court Reporting?** How about with a straight face trying to charge someone an hourly rate of $271.41 an hour for take down and certainly not making sure the potential client is aware of the charge they are going to be hit with. **Recommendations to others considering Steno Court Reporting:** DONT AND RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN. **What problems is Steno Court Reporting solving and how is that benefiting you?** I do not know what problems they are solving, but they are certainly creating some. I hired them for takedown on a case I was trying for 1 and 1/2 days. The other side agreed on the record to share in takedown. At the end of the first day I requested an invoice. I was told I would get that at the end of the trial. The trial ended after one and a half days of trial on the second day. My clients were billed by me for a total of 14 hours in court. The court reporter provided me a final statement at the conclusion of the trial for $950.00. I was told that was my one-half portion of the day and a half trial, which came to an hourly takedown rate for the 14 hours of $135.71 if you double my payment for the total charge. I thought that was an extremely unreasonable charge, but elected to just pay it, which was immediately done. Then I am contacted by the company stating that the $950.00 was the total portion due for day one and that I owed them another $1,900.00 for the second (much shorter) day two. We are not talking transcriptions. We are talking takedowns. If the $1900 is for day two and the $900 was one-half of the charge for day one, this company was attempting to charge me $3800.00 for takedown for 14 hours in court, or at an hourly rate of $271.43. The going rate in my community for take down is between $35.00 and $46.00 and hour. This company was attempting to charge me more than $225.00 an hour higher rate that the highest rate now in our community. I attempted to explain the situation to them logically, but I guess they do not see a problem in someone paying more than $271.00 an hour for a takedown in court. I have requested anything in writing from them showing I authorized playing that absurd rate for a court reporter. I have yet to see anything come my way with my signature. Apparently they do not see a problem with their excessive charge as they are threatening to sue me if I do not pay, rather than check their own records to see if their charges are even accurate from their own perspective. Run from this company. This is the worst rip off I have seen in my entire 49-50 years of practice. ### 5. The summaries are robust and you can ask a question in the same manner you would an attorney seeking information from the testimony that provides answers in just seconds instead of hours. I do not frequently have need of an interpreter, so when this issue recently arose, I noted that they provide this "extra" service. All is fine **What problems is Steno Court Reporting solving and how is that benefiting you?** Assisted with retaining a court reporter the day before a trial date due to the previous agency's reporter being unavailable. We scheduled and Steno retained the reporter same day which was awesome news, but then the court reporter didn't show up on time on more than one occasion after being scheduled and this was alarming for the attorneys at the trial as it held everything up. Also, there was a change in time one day where the morning session occurred, but the afternoon was canceled and this was noted in the morning trial that the matter would be continued to the next morning instead. The reporter still showed in the afternoon asking where everyone was. She was in the trial with the attorneys and others, yet she still showed knowing it was continued. Another thing that I love most, is turn around time when I need last minute transcripts, and/or Original Sealed transcripts for trial. One of my attorneys ONCE had a problem logging on the remote link provided and they apologies (not even sure if it was their fault to begin with) and next thing I knew, they are were working on how links went out and how to log on to remote depositions! The very first I messaged them - they were so helpful and great to work with. They continue to be a pleasure to be able to work with and schedule depositions with. We use them frequently and appreaciate that they send the links to the deposition that same day and then again on the day of the deposition. We really appreacite receiving the link that same day because when we use other court reporting services that do not - we usually run into an issue. **What do you dislike about Steno Court Reporting?** Nothing. I really appreaciate being able to use Steno and working alongside their great staff. We can scheduled either by email or through the website. They work with us when the witness can only have a super late deposition too. They send the confirmation email and we appreacite that too.
