I use STAAD.Pro as a Civil Engineer for designing RCC and steel structures. I appreciate that STAAD.Pro solves the structure analysis part, which is generally time-consuming, in just minutes. I like that it has a good and easy-to-understand user interface and provides good results viewing post-processing options. If not properly skilled you will lag in complex and multistorey structure designing. Also report are prepared are not that detailed as per the requirements. You can't handle notes, beam and plate model like Auto CAD does. Polar coordinate systems etc. You can't design with Aluminium structures with their codes ig. BS 8118 or AMD. Floor diaphragm to apply on model is quite difficult still till date. Lots of steps required to achieve final results. Compared to Etabs much way better to operate. STAAD.Pro is an excellent software for beginners as well as for industry professionals. For my academic project, I have used it as a beginner for the G+10 Stoery RC building and found it easy to use and can edit or modify easily. Newbies can work efficiently with this software even.
