**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

It’s super easy to use and gives smart, automated suggestions to cut down cloud costs. The dashboards are clear, and it integrates smoothly with our setup. Plus, the support team is always helpful when we need them.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

I do not like the learning curve for this tool, some features need extra setup and technical expertise to use them.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us track and reduce cloud costs by spotting unused or underutilized resources. This saves us unnecessary costs and makes our cloud usage more efficient.

  ### 2. Event Definitions for our Distril application helps to optimize our AWS enterprise cloud spends

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rithika G. | Cloud Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The Cloud Analyzer platform offered by Spot is best for optimizing our cloud expenses and resource management. Within a few steps, we can overview our enterprise cloud spending and prepare a workaround to build more cost-efficient architecture. It efficiently tracks and monitors our cloud expenses and targets wastage and potential areas where we can optimize our AWS platform further through its executable action items.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Overall, Spot Cloud Analyzer is great for our organization as it provides fantastic visibility to measure cost and improve efficiency in our AWS platform. An area of improvement could be suggested in its Documentation, where further use cases could be briefed.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spot Cloud Analyzer has helped us control our AWS EC2 cost significantly up to 70% after onboarding into its service platform. Apart from the cost savings, it also provides a wonderful user utility that is effortless to understand and work with. We make use of its Event Definition features for our Distril Application, which identifies anomalies in cloud resource utilization and gives excellent data visualization in its dashboard. This aided us with the identifications of misconfigured cloud resources and failed EC2 instances, which are adequately regulated in our AWS platform.

  ### 3. Not in the long run

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The ease of integrating Spot to AWS was seamless and required minimal effort. Once you overcome the initial setup, get used to navigating the UI, and get help when you need it from the excellent support team, everything afterward is about managing the proper configuration to best suit your usage. Even that is easy with built-in analysis and great chart visualizations!

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The UI can be unresponsive sometimes and slow to load.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spot Cloud Analyzer provides everything needed to help manage cost when working with cloud compute services. It has saved us a lot of operational costs associated with managing the resources. You can practically have one resource contain everything. I'm not kidding.

  ### 4. Cloud Operations @ its best

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh S. | Head of DevOps and Product Support, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

I have been a customer of SpotInst since 2016 and they have exceeded my expectations throughout the time using the product. From simplifying our challenges of leveraging the spot market in AWS, to helping us manage Kubernetes clustsers while attempting to scale horizontally and vertically, to leading us in the right direction with respect to Reservations and Savings plans, and to their latest work around cost analysis and areas of opportunity to reduce costs, it has been a fantastic journey/experience.

I should also mention we have worked with their technical teams to help us build out and manage our Spark clusters on AWS EMR so that we could run these clusters at the lowest costs possible, with a mix of spot (mostly) and RIs (small amount).

Finally, their support/customer success team is always highly responsive and their solutions architects are incredibly knowledgable in their respective areas of the product.

I do want to mention I have recently switched companies and when the time is right, I will be looking to bring them on at my new company.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Honestly, there is nothing I don't dislike. They are attentive, the solution solves a problem we have, and we have never had an issue leveraging the platform.

Maybe one small nit - I wish the UI for their SaaS platform was more performant. At times, it can take more than 5 seconds for parts to load.

**Recommendations to others considering Spot Cloud Analyzer:**

If you are looking to reduce cost and improve resource efficiency, this is your solution. Plus, I know they will continue to improve the platform and provide additional services that will be helpful, as they always have since I have been using them.

My only other suggestion is if you are concerned, start small and work your way into it. We run production workloads and we never had an issue.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We solved the following problems:

- Cost management - getting the best cost on EC2 (our largest portion of our AWS bill)
- Operational efficiency - making sure we could get the most appropriate resources for the workloads we were running.
- Data pipeline cost reduction - we spent significant money on data workloads, and by leveraging the platform, we could contain the costs
- Automation - we were able to achieve both cost management and efficiency in an automated fashion

  ### 5. Cost savings with less effort than self-managed spot fleet

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark G. | Platform Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

I find the console very easy and intuitive to use, displays very helpful information about each elastigroup, and it's very affirming to see the cost saving in big characters! Seeing the overall CPU/memory allocation within the Spotinst console itself is very handy when quickly deciding if scaling is necessary. There are so many exciting features like machine learned purchase strategies and fully managed k8s/ECS via Ocean which unfortunately we haven't had time to investigate but look very promising indeed. I once raised a question in the slack channel and was very impressed with how helpful and timely the response was, very much appreciated.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Although I did not implement this or visit this in detail myself (and very likely that this is no longer the case) it still appears that there is still significant JSON config to consider when setting up an elastigroup, enough to make me consider whether the extra effort is worth it for platform/DevOps teams of a big enough size to consider their own AWS spot fleet strategies and save on the Spotinst pct fee. Again we don't use all of the features and I think the preference would likely swing back to using Spotinst if I got time to learn all the benefits and features.

**Recommendations to others considering Spot Cloud Analyzer:**

Think about how much time it would take for your team to implement a solution which fits your needs, and how long it would take you to achieve those goals with Spotinst: does the cost now look attractive considering these variables?

If you do not have the time/resources to implement your own solution but would have time to implement a solution using Spotinst that investment would pay for itself many times over!

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spotinst was used to quickly set up a low (but not optimal) cost AWS ECS cluster for of our three environments for our (once startup pace) company. Recently it was again used as the cluster instance purchase strategy for k8s clusters as we attempted to migrate our ECS services to k8s services on AWS.

  ### 6. Outstanding solution for quick, easy and intelligent deployment of Spot-based architecture

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua W. | Technical Release Analyst, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The ability to clone existing architecture into a spot group provides for a very fast integration into an existing production environment and does so with minimal effort, ensuring optimization of performance and cost without weeks of development. You can even get the output code required to integrate SpotInst into a development pipeline, ensuring the ability to integrate SpotInst into even complex environments.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The only element of SpotInst that I disliked or found mildly challenging is the need to manage the resources in another platform. This can create confusion in some cases if not planned for accordingly, but is a very minor obstacle in an otherwise flawless solution. I'd suggest tagging resources to allow for better clarity over this.

**Recommendations to others considering Spot Cloud Analyzer:**

If you aren't already using Spot-based technologies seamlessly in AWS, you absolutely must try out SpotInst. We started saving significantly from day one, and it can be done so quickly and effectively that I can't give one reason not to give it a shot.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having SpotInst affords us an option to manage Spot Instance deployments where we were otherwise unable to adequately plan for load requirements effectively. Having SpotInst there to monitor and adjust our usage of Spot infrastructure based on load and price took away our need for doing the analysis required for self-management of Spot - ultimately opening the door to our use of Spot-based technology in many of our products without first needing to put in the development time.

  ### 7. Saves a lot of money with no deterioration of service

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle B. | Chief Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Getting Elastic Beanstalk services running on SpotInst is simple and straightforward. The cost savings are huge and I've never noticed any worse performance from the services I've run on it.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Reconfiguring Elastic Beanstalk that's being managed by SpotInst has never worked well. I've always ended up with everything in a broken state that I can't seem to get working again, and every time I've just started from scratch with a new EBS environment.

**Recommendations to others considering Spot Cloud Analyzer:**

If you're on the fence about using SpotInst, try it out with something nonessential that still racks up a non-negligible bill. You'll almost certainly see some notable cost savings, and you can see for yourself how easy it can be to use.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've got a web-based application that needs multiple running instances to effectively handle a high level of traffic. I've been able to slash server costs by more than 80% using SpotInst without sacrificing response time.

  ### 8. Spotinst lower my cost and manage my autoscaling

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Benjamin A. | Director of Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

We have been using GKE non preemptible nodes with autoscaling for a while now. What we learned from that is that there are many reasons why nodes will not downscale when we want them to. Good thing with spotinst is that since we can finally use preemptible nodes reliably, the nodes are being rebalanced every day -> lowering our cost with preemptible nodes + scaling!

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Got a lot of issues with the Spotinsts UI and that was annoying. But the support have always been reactive.

Spotinst is supposed to lower our Cloud Cost so it should take into account the Cloud credits. Does it make sense to use Spotinst when we have a credit? Yes, for the above reason. Do we wanna pay? No, we are using a credit already. Will we use Spotinst after our credit is gone? Definitely and we would understood how it works much better.

StatefulSet? How to deal with that?

**Recommendations to others considering Spot Cloud Analyzer:**

"Just Do It"... or at least "Just Try It"

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

See first question.

  ### 9. Great Application And Even Better Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evan F. | Senior Cloud Systems Engineer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

I like the additional set of features that Spotinst provides to build upon the functionality afforded by Spot Fleets. I like the ability to select a range of instance types and the simplicity of configurations for retaining EBS volumes and private ips from instance retirement to instance replacement. These are things that would take hours of scripting work to accomplish with the default tooling AWS provides.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The autoscaler for the ECS integration is still lacking configurability in some respects. We still use custom autoscalers running in Lambda because they can accomplish scaling calculations that SpotInst does not support--i.e. scaling off of a datadog metric.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Spotinst to manage the autoscaling of EC2 instances assigned to our ECS clusters. At this point, we have moved all of our production workloads over to Spotinst. The dashboards, metrics, and logging that Spotinst provides make troubleshooting easier. I've also personally had a great experience everytime I need to reach out to support--your reps are knowledgeable, friendly, and always available.

  ### 10. Spotinst has saved our company thousands of dollars over the past year

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Miguel D. | DevOps, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

One of the biggest upsides of Spotinst is cost savings. We have saved thousands of dollars over the past year not just in compute resources, but also human resources.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

One of the things we dislike is the time it takes for Spotinst to recognize that a service was scaled up and it can take some time (if at all) for Spotinst to realize this and create a new instance in order to meet the new requirements for the service.

**Recommendations to others considering Spot Cloud Analyzer:**

Ask! People even at their chat is really helpful!

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cost efficient infrastructure using spot instances. So far, we have been up on spot instances100% of the time and have not had to fall back to On Demand instances.

  ### 11. Best saas for auto-scale ever

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

1. Spotinst charges only for reduced costs which means there is no sunk cost to use the it. This was the best part of Spotinst when we decide to adopt the ocean.
2. Spotinst provide an efficient auto-scale strategy.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

1. Not easy to recognize current state of cluster at a glance and hope to see more logs in detail
2. Hope to get a little bit cheaper than now.

**Recommendations to others considering Spot Cloud Analyzer:**

Before we adopt the Ocean, we mainly discussed about this question, "The Ocean would have any benefits than Cluster autoscale service provided by k8s?"
We ended up deciding adopt both, Cluster Autoscale and Spotinst at the same time because the Ocean charges only for saved cost.
Therefore, I hope Spotinst to keep the pricing strategy. It will reduce unnecessary controversy those who like to adopt the Ocean.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Spotinst to solve auto-scale of k8s cluster efficiently to save costs.

  ### 12. Money saver and self managed!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The best thing being the fact that it saves us a lot of money at my current firm by managing our Spot Instances and takes away the headache of setting it up in AWS Console.

The dashboard is quite simple and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The initial configuration and setting up a Elastigroup can be quite a cumbersome process of going through multiple steps.

There is a lack of clarity as as to what all the different features do in there. For eg, we only use the elastigroup feature and have never bothered to explore into other features which I am sure provide some value for an organisation.

**Recommendations to others considering Spot Cloud Analyzer:**

Must try! Saves you a lot of headache of managing Spot instances.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Assigning and managing spot instances for our micro-services.

Its does save us a lot of money and the fact that metrics such as Money Saved in terms of Actual and Potential and Metrics related to AWS Load Balancers are also available makes it quite helpful to handle deployments in one place.

  ### 13. It provides satisfactory service for our affordable and optimised infra.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Its delay in operative response causes irritation(when we go next or save something)

**Recommendations to others considering Spot Cloud Analyzer:**

Consider using spotinst , this will benefit you for your infrastructure !! But spotinst service s must be under monitoring .

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problem of availability of servers is always solved by via spotinst , and we are benefitted with cost optimisation feature .

  ### 14. Rich Features and Great Customer Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Makoto S. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Spotinst has a rich set of features which help us solve problems out of the box, instead of us creating the components by hand! The console also provides easy-to-read dashboards which could give us insights for our business.

Spotinst also has really good 24-hour customer support (via live chat) and is very proactive on helping us solve problems.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Nothing much really! Oh, we use Spotinst with AWS EKS and it's currently not possible to launch an encrypted EBS from an unencrypted AMI via Ocean though the team did mention they added it to their roadmap so that's great. :)

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Spotinst Ocean with AWS EKS and it makes it very easy for us to handle workloads as Ocean does the auto-scaling, resource allocation, etc. all by itself.

  ### 15. Scaling with Simplicity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ronald C. | Lead Site Reliability Engineer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Part of the problem with ECS is having to scale the instances along with your services. Spotinst abstract the instance scaling away from me so I only have to scale my services and they handle all my hardware scaling needs. Moreover, The fact that the instances are spot instances saves us a money.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The UI sometimes feels a bit clunky and the short logout period is quite annoying.

**Recommendations to others considering Spot Cloud Analyzer:**

If you don't want to spend time having to scale you instances let Spotinst do it for you. In addition, you save a ton of money since the instances will be spot instances.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem i'm solving is auto scaling my instances on my ECS cluster. Spotinst handles this for me saving me a ton of work.

  ### 16. Reserved Instances? Why bother?

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ber Z. | Principal Architect, Site Reliability, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Terraform support, fast and knowledgeable response times to issues, great uptime, and great pricing.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The documentation could be organized better, and better use-cases and illustrations of differences between products would be great. Why choose Elastigroups vs Ocean for example

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We manage our ECS cluster w/spotinst, scaling up and down using spot instances according to demand and not needing any reserved instances.10 instances or 1000, spotinst saves us a huge amount.

  ### 17. Start saving money

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Nice GUI, the amount of possible automation, API (and its documentation). Support is excellent! Always very helpful and skilled people solving you problems.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Some dependencies are not tested enough (t3a instances in K8s-cluster).
Sometimes errors occur which have to be solved in SpotInst's backend by a support engineer. This is actually one reason keeping us from using SpotInst for our PROD-environments.

**Recommendations to others considering Spot Cloud Analyzer:**

Try it, it won't be that expensive. If you encounter errors, don't hesitate to get in touch with their excellent support.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

costly cloud infrastructure for dev and test can be provided for a fracture of the on-demand-cost.

  ### 18. Reducing costs - the easy way

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philipp R. | Senior DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The easy way of setting up Spotinst on existing clusters.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The somehow complicated way to set up single sign-on with Azure AD. We had to reset these settings several times with the support until we had a final working configuration.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reducing the infrastructure costs of our production and non-production ECS clusters.

  ### 19. Easy and trustable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Ability to fail-over to on-demand instances when spot availability decreases to 0
Spot market availability visualizations
Ocean

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The need to use 2 different console. And the fact that when one ESG produces alerts, it emails a single account email instead of a configurable list/ESG.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SpotInst needs it own billing alarms. Also the ability to specify different emails to notify for ESG alerts. And perhaps some other options to alert via SNS/Slack.

  ### 24. Using elasticgroup

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

The support is very good.
The ability to create cluster in several clicks. Much easier than AWS

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

1. No grouping for elastigroups. For example QA vs Prod. Service A clusters vs service B etc...
2. No policy and credentials profiles - this is a big problem now days.

**What do you like best about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

1. Ease of use.
2. Uses spot-instances(aws)/low-priority(Azure) very effectively.
3. Support of multiple Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure)
4. Graphical view of resource utilization along with savings.
5. Best suitable for big-data kind of operations, where brustable capacity is required for a short duration.
6. Provide effective suggestions on the deployed/already running clusters.

**What do you dislike about Spot Cloud Analyzer?**

Some of the time the response time is bit slow, otherwise as of now nothing much to really dislike it.

Would like them to implement few more features like:
1. To enable the USERDATA update for already provisioned Elastigroups.
2. Provide details if the cloud providers fails to provide adequate resources or resources get hanged.

**Recommendations to others considering Spot Cloud Analyzer:**

I would recommend to consider Spotinst to manage your cloud resources & certainly you will feel the difference.

**What problems is Spot Cloud Analyzer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Huge cost savings when we deployed Spotinst to manage our spark cluster. It manages our spark worker nodes very effectively & turned out to be very cost effective.

1. The userdata section helped us to make the things very much automated & worker nodes are getting added to the master automatically.
2. We could also ensure the bare minimum capacity required by specifying the no of on-demand VMs vs the spot instance. We found this very effective. Thanks Spotinst.
3. Any changes made to the back-end cloud provider is immediately available to the spot inst.
