I have installed in a laptop and the battery lasts much longer, because it does not require so many computer resources there are not many processes there is less energy consumption. SparkyLinux is based on the stable version of Debian, so I have a lot of support and compatible programs. **What do you dislike about SparkyLinux?** An important detail is when I connect a USB memory, sometimes it does not mount the unit and I have to do it manually. When deleting a file from my USB memory, my memory is not occupied until the file is manually deleted from the trash. I couldn't update it and needed the computer for my work. I reviewed several distributions and after using Lubuntu, I wasn't satisfied and looked for a lighter distribution. I found Sparkylinux. I installed it by doing an advanced formatting of the hard drive and now my PC has everything necessary to work with a solid and stable distribution. It comes with a set of applications such as LibreOffice, a firewall, and the PC runs very fast. I mean let's be practical, most people don't go around buying new computers just for the sake of it. Machines don't come cheap and these ones, though starting to show their age, are no exception. Not to mention, if not for the announced end of support for Windows 7 (which these machines were happily running on) and the continuously increasing processing requirement of of Windows 10, these machines would continue to serve our purpose, which is primarily for research, editing and typing work. When I heard about Linux, I was skeptical. I always thought it was hard to install, harder to maintain, and ultimately complex to use. I was wrong. I saw the reviews about Sparky, I got it running on all 3 machines, got my non-technical wife to use it and now even my kids are playing games on it. I'm never going back to Windows again. **What do you dislike about SparkyLinux?** I have nothing to dislike about this Linux distro. In fact I have all praises. Not only is it lightning fast on old hardware, I managed to get my usual work done after playing around with it for a week. **Recommendations to others considering SparkyLinux:** Get it and never look back. **What problems is SparkyLinux solving and how is that benefiting you?** As with most Linux distros, its the availability (or the lack of) commercial software that we all got used to using that kills the desire to transition to a distro like Sparky. But I can say that with the number of opensource alternatives and with Wine and PlayOnLinux filling the need for running native Windows applications.
