A few things that are a downside to Solver would be the connection between my ERP system refreshes only once per day. Also the learning curve to the program is steep, I was very fortunate to take the intro courses at the Solver conference. I wish I had Solver at my previous company, as we built manual reports every month. Solver is a great tool, easy to use, and its best part is the link it has with Excel. The only disavantage so far is that the person that builds a report is the specialist in it. And if that person leaves the company and has not trained anyone on that report before, part of the knowledge is lost. It is easily fixed by crosstraining employees/users.
