I also like that it's an open-source project managed by the team behind Wordpress. **What do you dislike about Simplenote?** It's not something I dislike, per se, but the only way to organize things is by tagging them. There is no hierarchical organization, or archiving of notes. I use this constraint to review and clean up my notes, so it's more of a feature for me, but know that if you want to store notes long-term you will need to copy them elsewhere. Specifically two things that would make it perfect for me would be a WYSIWYG formatting tab (as opposed to markdown only). Too simple that it will automatically detect the first line of your notes as your Headline or title of your notes. Quite straightforward, and no learning curve at all. You use it straight out of the box, and start taking notes. No other bloated features that usually distracts you and does more harm than good especially when you are in a speedy conversation where you need nothing but taking notes and making sure that you have minimal distractions as possible. **What do you dislike about Simplenote?** What I dislike about SimpleNote is it is too simple. I can not directly paste an image or another form of media on their editor, something that I have to do manually. Or probably they just don't design simple note for a media-rich editor. Either way, if based on its ability to provide distraction-free note-taking tools, then SimpleNote does its job well as advertised. **Recommendations to others considering Simplenote:** For a minimalist note-taking tool that you can rely on for an effective jotting down important details then I highly recommend SimpleNote. **What problems is Simplenote solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use SimpleNote when I am inside a team meeting and in a forum where the speed of taking notes is the same as the speed of conversation. You Can't just ask the lecturer or your team members to repeat what they just said about their presentation because you were too distracted using different tools and features presented. SimpleNote is simple a straightforward tool that does one thing and does it good, which is taking notes efficiently and effectively. ### 30. My mom used it for a grocery list and also for party planning supplies. I use it for everything including daily tasks and just to prioritize certain things in my daily routine. Even my kids chores have been able to be jotted down or projects. I also like that it works on any device. **What do you dislike about Simplenote?** The delete button is too close to other buttons and minimal formatting options but that’s probably the point in the program hence the name. **What problems is Simplenote solving and how is that benefiting you?** Prioritizing daily tasks, it also is easy for me to keep track of what I already have done for the day and I love how It helps me not forget simple things like a phone number or log things like miles and appointments for work. ### 32. Free form in scope, let's you type **What do you dislike about Simplenote?** It simply doesn't give you nearly enough WYWSIG options. Can't bulletise or numerical order. Can't highlight anything, can't embolden. It really isn't much better than a basic desktop post-it note. Nowhere near the same scale as Evernote or OneNote. **Recommendations to others considering Simplenote:** It's a note-taking app, but you really don't get much else from it. I really don't see the point of going to the Windows store and downloading it. Some free apps give you a nice unique selling point - it'll be a cold day in Tahiti before I can figure out what on Earth this one's is. Ooh, I can switch it from white to black background - sign me up as my eyes roll. WYWSIG needs to be implemented to even get people thinking this tool could be a useful compendium in their everyday lives. Can't upload pictures, only Ctrl + C on screenshots - add this, and it might help the tool stand out. It clearly needs a jolt though. **What problems is Simplenote solving and how is that benefiting you?** Nothing in particular, merely sampling note taking devices. I honestly can't look at this tool as anything worthy of your time and effort. ### 33. It does what you need it to do without drowning you in features you probably won't use. It's free too! The sync with the mobile app is almost instantaneous. That sounds like a silly thing to like, but you appreciate it when you add to your notes on a desktop then use your phone minutes later to reference them while in a meeting. **What do you dislike about Simplenote?** It's easy to lose track of old notes. Lack of multiple notebook functionality. **Recommendations to others considering Simplenote:** It's great as long as you don't need too many "notes." There is no notebook functionality, so it can be easy to lose track of notes that you don't update on a regular basis.
