Screenflow has everything that you need to build awesome media. They have tons of features and allow you to build very eccentric pieces of media with all the layers you need. The learning curve is a bit high with everything you can do, but there are a lot of things on YouTube you can watch to learn, they have a huge community of people who do tutorials. It happened to me twice, that I tried to record my screen only to find out 30 minutes later that I didn't check the "Record Desktop" checkbox. Maybe an additional dialog even when you start recording in the document would help.

Screenflow keeps adding useful features and increased stability with each release, so feature-wise it's fantastic for what it does. I do find the 2 computer limit per license somewhat irritating. I prefer that the software be licensed to the user to use on whatever computer they happen to be using at the time. Screenflow is Mac only, but there is similar software available to Windows users.
