easy to query using the interface provided. SAS is supposed to provide reliable statistical results and that is the main reason that many government agencies rely on SAS than other statistical software in professional environments. I primarily used SAS for survival analysis in my graduate studies and I found SAS to be powerful software tool that makes it easier to program and obtain the necessary standard results without extra work.

**What do you dislike about SAS/STAT?**

Unlike other statistical programming languages like R, SAS lacks customization on inputs as well as outputs. If anybody needs to do data wrangling and do advanced statistical computing, they might find SAS limited due to the restricted environment that SAS working. I used the university edition of SAS but if you an individual looking to work in SAS, it might be expensive for a statistical tool to keep for personal use.

**Recommendations to others considering SAS/STAT:**

**What do you like best about SAS/STAT?**

The sheer statistical power of SAS is impressive. You can navigate the options to create t-tests, anovas, correlations, etc. You can also control the small details of tests, like which model you want to run. This is seriously great technology, and way surpasses other suites like SPSS and Minitab.

**What do you dislike about SAS/STAT?**

There is definitely a learning curve for SAS. The interface isn't the most intuitive. The programming aspect could also confuse some users.

**Recommendations to others considering SAS/STAT:**

Run a trial or watch some videos on it. You will see exactly why it is the right statistical suite to use.

  ### 26. SAS can handle large datasets for data management and analysis

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2019

**What do you like best about SAS/STAT?**

1. SAS is excellent for dealing with (many) large datasets; I often work with datasets with over 1 million records and my code runs very quickly. 2. While it's not open forum, there's also a ton of resources for learning SAS such as the SAS Community website where a user can ask a very specific question and members respond with sample code to help you get the output you're seeking. 3. When you make a mistake coding, trying to make sense of the issue is pretty straightforward by reading the log. 4.Everything is validated before making it to the product. This is the benefit of it being close-source. I find this especially helpful for statistical work.

**What do you dislike about SAS/STAT?**

There is a learning curve with coding and the language itself is a little clunky; competitive products such as R can often do some of the same tasks but with more efficient syntax (i.e., ten lines in SAS to do a task can be the equivalent of two or three in R). Then again, SAS also offers SAS EG with has a point-and-click interface. SAS is also an expensive product; the cost can be a barrier for many organizations searching for a data management and/or statistical analysis tool.

**What problems is SAS/STAT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work with a lot of health records. SAS allows me to link patient medical records from different data sources, essentially allowing me to track a patient through the system. I can use SAS to mine an electronic health record. I can conduct statistical analyses to compare outcomes between patients.

  ### 27. Quality software program, but pricey.

**What do you dislike about SAS/STAT?**

Despite the face that it's easier to use than other software, it is pretty confusing. It also takes up a lot of space on your computer. Therefore, making your entire computer freeze up when you need to use the program. I think the design of the software could be better as well. Make it more appealing please!

**Recommendations to others considering SAS/STAT:**

Make sure you use Youtube tutorials. That really helps as people have step by steps on how to use the software more efficiently.

**What problems is SAS/STAT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used this software during the year I worked in a research lab to make sense of the impact different ph levels had on cell growth. I was able to determine that a lower pH was more useful for growing cells in our situation. In addition, using this software was great to put on my resume, as many laboratories require you to have used some statistical program during your college education.

**Reviewed by:** Olivia Y. | Associate, Market Research, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2018

**What do you like best about SAS/STAT?**

Organized coding syntax; corporate friendly; most econ consulting use this; transferrable syntax to a certain extent to other statistical sofeware such as stata; good at reading in large files

**What do you dislike about SAS/STAT?**

When it comes to data science work in general sas is no longer the main tool; R and python are. Don't like the price(not free) and that it's not commonly used outside of corporate world.

**What problems is SAS/STAT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Read in data, clean and analyzing data, charting, building regression models

**What do you like best about SAS/STAT?**

It has multiple in-built procedures inside which can be used for data manipulation and data modeling. It is easy to learn programming inside it. The best procedures are proc sql and proc means for me which can help to quickly merge or summarize my datasets.

**What do you dislike about SAS/STAT?**

SAS uses long codes for data analysis. It is typically cumbersome to use for creating graphs. The market is going slow and competitors like R and Python Programming languages are getting ahead in the game. Also, getting a SAS license is not free.

**What problems is SAS/STAT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I solve data analytics problems to analyze clinical data which is eventually helping pharma companies getting their drug out in the market.

  ### 46. Great Analytical software you could go for

  ### 48. Powerful but truly good ROI?

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pierce E. | Competition Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2018

**What do you like best about SAS/STAT?**

SAS is a powerful statistical language. There are many components of it, increasing over time. I've worked with SAS for a number of years before resorting to tools with greater business value.

**What do you dislike about SAS/STAT?**

The software is really expensive, the language tool is bulky in my opinion. These days a business' main goal in technology should be to minimize developer staff. Business side should be able to extract and load their own data just through the system, and any mods should be doable by the user, and there even a power user is ok.

**What problems is SAS/STAT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Used various elements of SAS for reporting, statistical analysis.

  ### 49. Very worthwhile, after you take the time to figure it out.

**What do you like best about SAS/STAT?**

I appreciate the good balance of being able to write code and being able to use packages and macros when I don't have time to write detailed code.

**What do you dislike about SAS/STAT?**

What I dislike is that there aren't enough help options available when one has questions about how to code for various statistical equations.

**Recommendations to others considering SAS/STAT:**

Learn SAS best by practicing alongside someone else, especially someone that has some familiarity with SAS code.

**What problems is SAS/STAT solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can now analyze my data in a very specific and detailed manner. When I used programs such as SPSS, I did not have this ability.
