  ### 2. Boost my productivity and time management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jaime F. | Senior Project Manager, Design, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2025

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

RescueTime runs in the background and automatically records the time I spend on numerous apps and websites, giving me a clear view of my daily behaviors. This helped me focus on what mattered and avoid distractions. The ability to create alarms when I spend too much time in non-productive activities has been a good reminder to stay focused. When I have multiple projects and tight deadlines, the Focus Time option helps me avoid distractions and focus on my vital work.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

I was uncomfortable with a program that recorded everything I did on my computer. It took me a while to adjust to this amount of tracking, although I know I have the confidence that only I have access to the data.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

RescueTime has been a great tool in our company, where creativity and efficiency must coexist. We find common distractions and ways to reduce them by sharing time reports with my team. For example, we have observed that meetings without a defined topic are long, so we have developed rules to make them shorter and more focused. I found that I often checked my email while studying my data, which disrupted my workflow. I increased my productivity and could spend more time on high priority activities by reviewing emails in pre-determined time chunks. Although it may seem useless at first, this tool is actually very valuable and beneficial for you and your team.

  ### 3. Productivity without assumptions for better time management. RescueTime

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2025

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

It can silently and non–intrusively map everything I do on a daytoday basis, whether I'm checking emails, preparing content for my classes or doing academic reading. At the end of each day I receive a detailed report on my productivity; RescueTime also sends me a breakdown each weekend in my e–mail that shows my time use patterns and a visual summary with easy to interpret graphs and data.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

RescueTime shines in data collection and presentation but sorting and organizing activities within the application, especially when it comes to setting up my own labels, can take some time at first.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

RescueTime has allowed me to recognize which activities I shouldn't spend as much effort on; by clearly visualizing my usage trends I can prioritize the most important activities and avoid falling into unproductive habits. The detailed productivity reports are easy to understand and visualize allowing me to make weekly adjustments to my schedule.

  ### 4. Saving me time and providing me focus for years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Geoffrey T. | Sr. CSM, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2023

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

Rescue time has evolved a lot over the years. Along the way, their support and focus on making my workday more efficient have been consistent and outstanding. Lately, my favorite features are -

* New hosted Guided Focus Sessions
* Quick friendly Support
* Ease of use
* Helps block distractions on my laptop and mobile

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

There is not a lot that I disclike about Rescue Time. That said, some areas for improvement could be -

* Better analytics (the previous platform had more analytics which was better and more interesting but was sacrificed for more flexibility and self-accountability. So really, not all that bad.

* Would like to see better integration between the mobile app and the Windows app, for example, focus times could force the same Android actions automagically. May be a bit much to ask and probably violates 3,001 security protocals.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rescue Time serves to help me focus on the things that are important. A bit self-learning and a lot taught by my habits, Rescue Time offers a myriad of ways to focus my efforts by blocking distractions, reminding me to get it done, and see how I'm doing with all of that.

  ### 5. Best tool computer or mobile screen time tracking and give a proper report

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamruddin S. | IT Trainer , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2023

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

I am a computer and mobile lover and use this device for 2 or 3 three hours of continuous use but with the help of Rescue Time I can track my time in every app and that also category what type of software I am using and set a target for a week. Every weekend I get a proper mail regarding how I utilized my time in the previous week and give tips for the next week.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

I think if you need to track all your device then please install your software on all your device other wise they don't give proper reports.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me see how much time I spend in the app and software with proper categories that help me to increase my productivity. Much easier to see my weekly progress.

How many times do I spend on which device is best think for me. I easily track my usage and try to overcome unwanted apps or software usage with help of the this software.

  ### 6. Good option to improve productivity

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pedro U. | Freelance , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2023

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

Years ago, while looking for ways to improve my productivity, I came across RescueTime. At first, I just had to classify my activities and the sites I visited, and when I received my first monthly report, I loved discovering how I was using my time. That's why, for me, the most valuable thing about RescueTime is its reports.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

The interface has some aspects that could be improved, and it would also be great to have multiple languages available since the tool is only in English. Although it's not my case, many users will miss having the Spanish language available.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keep track of the time spent on activities, applications, and websites used both on a computer and on other mobile devices, which allows for tracking the time used.

  ### 7. Not for everyone, but it's the best invisible solution if you need one.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** JC M. | Head of Innovation, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2023

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

I've been using Rescuetime for ten years now, and it has been an essential tool for tracking my productivity. The software itself doesn't really ask much from the user (save for the occasional maintenance of "uncategorized" apps and websites - especially if you're in the technology field). Otherwise, the reports have been satisfactory.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

There haven't been much substantial product updates in the past few years, maybe by design. But I'd love to see more reports and faster loading times for longer time horizons.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have to track how much time I spend at work and the apps that I use. This data has been instrumental in justifying past and upcoming SaaS investments for us. Productivity tracking is also a given and setting limits around distracting activity has been helpful.

  ### 8. Keep your time on track

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2023

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

I have been using rescue time for more than six years, and it is a good companion for me to keep track of me. It has iPhone and Mac applications; installing them will give you an accurate picture of your time-spending habits. It tracks and categorises your browsing history and application usage time. You can observe your products and practices through the dashboard. It also has a focus session, which blocks distractive websites for some time.

Zapier integrations with RescueTime can do a lot of things too.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

It collects all the data and sends storage to its server. I often worry about the data privacy issues with this software, Have to evaluate the tradeoff.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps you track and monitor how you spent time on laptop and mobile phones

  ### 9. Rescue Time Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2023

Its the best app which helps me to set goals and also in time tracking. It has the feature of automatic time tracking which helps us to understand the hours we worked.

I didnt have much to share about the dislike, as it has been a great platform where i can have an amazing summary of time and work on weekly basis which ensures i have a great work life balance.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This app makes sure to give accurate summary of the work and time we involved which makes us to be aware of the work and time we incur for each work and also helps us to grow.

  ### 10. Usage of rescueview

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Suraj N. | Manager - Design Electronics, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2023

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

Time tracker with specific data on the usage of where time went. This helps in staying productive and goal bound. It initially helped in correcting by identifying.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

It used to run out of self ruining menu and had to be initiated. Sometimes the data would show no data recorded then you need to check as to what went wrong to fix this.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rescuetime is more of time management tool. It shows passively where you are losing time. Like browsing web passively. This can then be used to take corrective actions in improving time quality.

  ### 11. Using Rescue Time for more focus and less distraction at work.

The feature which gave me the time spend on all the app and respective sector of the app. on each of our organization system.

  ### 14. It's been 3 years already and I can't thank it enough

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Xavier C. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2022

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

It's so easy, you don't have to do anything. Just work and it will track your activity. It is 0 annoying, as they only notify you of really relevant events.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

The dashboard could be updated, but other than that, I love it,

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Productivity: You can't improve what you don't rrack, and that's what Rescume time does

  ### 15. RescueTime is the easy-button option for understanding time utilization and productivity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam K. | Clinical Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2022

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

By far, the best part of RescueTime is how streamlined and easy it is to use. Painless. Install it, install the browser extensions, then it runs quietly in the background, tracking and capturing data.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

Not so much dislike as room for improvement: If RescueTime added in geolocation and/or device tracking, that would provide for more insights into productivity choices.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

Do think through your goals for using RescueTime and do check in periodically; a measurement tool is only as good as the user checking it.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used RescueTime for several years now for a couple of purposes: First, simply tracking working/productive hours. It is easier for me to look retrospectively using RescueTime's reports to figure out my hours then to try to keep up with it in real-time. Secondly, I use RescueTime to get insights into actual productivity during time blocked work sessions. This is very helpful for helping me improve my focus and performance.

  ### 16. Good for Determining How You Use Your Time

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth S. | Director of Finance and Office Operations, Public Relations and Communications, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2022

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

My favorite thing is that it has a very useful browser widget. I can't afford to have a million apps open that I don't need, because I already have a lot that I do, so the fact that I can easily access information, set alerts/timers, reports, etc all from the widget is super helpful.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

I do wish it had some sort of ability to better determine whether work you are doing in certain places is productive time or unproductive time, i.e. if you could designate certain words in email for example to indicate unproductive time.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

RescueTime helped me to realized things like what time of day I am most productive, what programs steal more of my time than I realize, and generally how to better understand when and how to achieve more productive time while carving out more free time.

  ### 17. A learning experience in productivity

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauren T. | Legal Transcriptionist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

I liked that I learned a lot about where my time goes. I can often get distracted when I'm researching something, and end up on a totally unrelated task. FocusTime definitely made me more aware of when I started wandering.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

It could have connected to more apps that I use, like email clients, or messaging software, in order to help analyze which ones were important and which ones were just in need of a rescue.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

RescueTime definitely was a learning experience. I learned a lot about myself and that I waste a ton of time when I think that I'm being productive. It was a very eye-opening experience, but it made me more productive as a whole.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

RescueTime definitely made me much more aware of when I was getting distracted and calling it "working." It enabled me to become more productive by pointing out the occasions when I was just wasting time.

  ### 18. Deceptively simple idea but actually hugely helpful

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Liz F. | Bookkeeper /owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2022

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

It tracks all my computer usage in work hours not just internet history. You can specific apps/sites that relate to focus work, other work and personal

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

The online interface isn't that inituative and there are definitely some reports I'd like that don't exist

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

Really helps you to understand exactly what you're doing at your computer each day.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not great at estimating/tracking client work so the focus work time gives me a sense check on my estimates. I can also use the time I spent on each app/site to further improve my billing

  ### 19. Would like to try, but unwilling to pay

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kaley W. | Data Analyst, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2022

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

It tracks active time, not just time that the computer is open to work stuff.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

There is no free plan. (The two-week free trial doesn't count.)

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an exempt employee, RescueTime helps me work exactly eight hours a day, excluding breaks.

  ### 20. Increase your productivity, and take back control of your time with Rescue Time

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zahabiya K. | Content writer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2021

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

It precisely shows your productivity in each area, be it development, entertainment, or any other task. Just start your timer when you are on to work and end it when its over. It will show the exact amount of timw you spent on each and every task and based on that, it evaluates your average productivity rate.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

The only flaw is that, some work require you to shift on to an ecommerce site or spend time on entertainment sites. This lowers down the overall productivitu rate which should not happen.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rescue Time solves most of employees' performance evaluation problems and let them grow and balance their work life.

  ### 21. Life-changer. Ultra easy to use.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karthik R. | Co-ordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2021

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

Absolutely easy to automate tracking 100%. Just configure it once and forget about it. RescueTime can track the titles of the documents in every app (if you choose to enable it) -- so much so, that you can ignore a particular Twitter page, but mark another as productive, and another as distracting. I went Pro several years ago, and continue to use it every day. Gives me the surest way to benchmark my productivity. Automatic triggers can help you save time from distractions (e.g. shut down social media for an hour, after spending more than 10 mins). Daily goals are also nice (Get x hours of writing done, not more than y hours on emails, etc.).

RescueTime has way more features, and use cases than I describe here. So do check it out!

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

Sometimes, the customisation of categories can be a little restrictive, but there are some tricks to make it work. Deleting time is faster on some pages than others --- a minor quip. Some apps don't play well with RescueTime -- while it's not RT's fault, it's an issue. For instance, I used to be able to log my phone calls before, and separate out work-related and personal calls. Now, I can't do it, thanks to an Android security feature.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

RescueTime helps you _exactly_ pinpoint where your time goes! How much time is spent on news, social media, email, serious work, meetings, etc. etc. I use it personally, but I can imagine using it in a team might be fantastic. I haven't explored the features, but I imagine it can be very helpful for managers, even if there is a simplified report of employee productivity (but I imagine employees may not opt in).

  ### 22. Good for trend tracking and ease

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2022

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

usability and ease of navigating for users on both ends

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

regular updates to ux/ui would be more helpful

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

good for remote workers tracking time AND is quick to set up and start

  ### 23. Clear view of your day

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcus Eduardo d. | Founder Architect Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2021

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

It is simple and straightforward: install it, and start to work. Let it track your activities, and then go to the dashboard and categorize them as you see it, from very productive to very unproductive. It sets some challenges to keep you on track with you time. There is the possibility to set focus time to better productivity, and you can define when will it track your activity on screen, be it on desktop or mobile, and more recently, even space to include your offline activities, when you are away from screen. There is an intersting integration with Google Calendar.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

Something that I didn't like was the exportation feature: there are not too many options, and the report comes lacking parts of the information.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking activities. It helps to see what software do you really need to purchase, based on the time you use them. Enables you to see how long you are spending on social media, for example, and based on gamification, set goals for better use of your time.

  ### 24. Simple Time Tracking Tool

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2021

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

Rescuetime is a simple to use tool. Does not have a lot of features compared to other applications in the space but more isn't always better.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

When I first started managing teams online Rescuetime was a solution that just worked. As customers required more accountability, rescuetime did not include those security features. Specifically desktop snapshots.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

This is a simple time tracking tool that helps with managing remote staff. A nice feature is the ability to associate hours with a specific project. You may or may not need a desktop tracking system to ensure the quality of work. It was helpful to have an HR experienced person maintain the application.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rescuetime is a simple timetracker for a new contractor to start using. The time spent having to onboard was minimal.

  ### 25. Affordable Time Tracker with insightful features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph M. | UX Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2021

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

RescueTime is great for time tracking and noticing your productivity issues and how to change them. I like that it doesn't disturb me while working and it just tracks time quietly. It comes with personalization features so you can get the most out of it and I'm able to change them whenever my schedule does. The alarms work well too and it keeps me motivated to finish longer tasks.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

The interface feels too old and outdated for me. But the features do an amazing job, so I'm not complaining.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

If you're one of the many people struggling with tasks deadlines, productivity and responsibility, I recommend trying RescueTime - it will keep you on your toes.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think that RescueTime has helped me to be more focused on my work instead of social media (the thought of it recording your time is, well, kind of intimidating). The weekly reports have definitely helped me achieve my goals as I can plan what I'll do the following week to increase my productivity and meet every deadline.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter D. | Digital Marketer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2020

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

Rescue Time offers forever FREE TRIAL plan which allows you to use the software for free on both Desktop and Mobile devices. I like it that I can track both my activities on phone an on PC at the same time which has afforded me the opportunity to measure and manage how and what I spent my time on.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

I wish there can be some improvement on the mobile app to prevent it from crashing/closing itself when not in use. I would like it to be running always

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

If you are looking for a simple utility tool to better measure and manage the efficient usage of your time, ResucueTime is a great tool for you to check out

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There is a popular saying that "What you don't measure, you can't improve", RescueTime is a great utility tool which has helped me in measuring and managing my time, which has led to the effective usage of my time. With RescueTime, I know which activity is taking most of my time

  ### 28. Want to know how you spend your time? Try RescueTime

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian W. | Creative Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2020

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

RescueTime helps me critique my own time management skills and get deep insights into your habits and how they all combine to affect how productive your time is.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

Not anything to dislike- its not intrusive, and it gives you all the data you could possibly want, and much more.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

RescueTime helps keep me on my toes with time tracking and productivity. You don't have to obsess over it to get useful data that helps to curb some of those habits (especially social media) that are eating up your hours.

  ### 29. Very hands-off way of seeing how you spend your time online

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2020

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

I like how you can customize the software to align with your own definition of what is productive or not productive. There are some defaults that are helpful but for example, if you work on social media, you can refactor the categorization of it to be 'productive' time spent.
I also love how it is very hands-off in that once it is set up it tracks all your time so you don't need to manually log anything. The insights are very helpful and often surprising.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

Of course, there are some limitations - the software doesn't know if you are inactive as far as I know so there may be some inaccuracies in the final result.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to see if the majority of my time online is being spent in a productive way and seeing what other restrictions I can put in place to help me work smarter. The data is very helpful to get a real sense of that.

  ### 30. Comprehensive Time Tracker for keeping Productivity On Track

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt L. | Senior Director, Digital and Marketing Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2019

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

RescueTime is a very comprehensive software if you'd like to be mindful about how you spend your working time. Though the free version is adequate, the paid version allows you to log offline time (e.g. meetings.) in which you were working but not actually spending time at your computer.

The Productivity Score is also useful- and very easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

By no means a deal breaker, but RescueTime's ability to track Phone usage on Iphone isn't complete- so you're mostly limited to computer use.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having used RescueTime for 4+ years, it has made me quite mindful about how I spend my time. I've been able to identify patterns in my own workday when I'm super productive or very unproductive (blue and red scores respectively) that make it easy to diagnose my bad habits and improve my good ones.

  ### 31. Easy app for time tracking and productivity

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

Great personal analytics service that shows me how I spend my time and helps me be more productive.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

Constant updates need to be done and sometimes the app does not record time as desired.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

Helpful app for time management and tracking of activities. Both personal and for team members.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Personal productivity tracking. Time spending and helps with timesheets.

  ### 32. Allowed me to accurately quantify the amount of productive time in my day

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pattar and Co. C. | Accountant, Accounting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2019

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

It is a trusty, quiet app that never fails to work. A lot of new features and APIs are being introduced, allowing for BIG extensibility of your data!

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

Logging time outside of RescueTime can be a little annoying, but that's really no fault of the app itself!

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

Do not fall prey to deleting all of the unproductive time. Try to go with the ratings and categories that they provide, rather than customizing everything to the micro detail.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The 8 hours throughout the normal business day are absolutely vital for me. I want to make sure that I am spending time doing things which are either increasing knowledge, realizing revenue, and being productive. Because Lord knows there far too many distractions in today's tech-obsessed culture.

  ### 33. Save your time, RescueTime

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yaniv G. | Freelancer Designer for 3D Printing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2019

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

RescueTime allows me to get an in-depth report on the amount and time of use of the various sites and software installed on my computer automatically.
The software gives the motivation to work on software / productive sites and less on software/sites that waste time.
The report allows me to give more accurate working time to my clients.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

Some area of the report is locked in the free version, there is no plugin that allows you to actively lower your stay time on the various sites.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

Don't waste your time, install RescueTime!

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Despite the drawbacks, the motivation that comes with it does help me reduce the time I spend on unproductive sites and wasteful software.

  ### 34. I like its ability to set timers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sagnik D. | Technical Marketing Manager for Thin Clients, Chrome devices, PoS, RPAs, OEMs, SaaS, and 3D ISVs, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

  ### 35. Rescuetime offers me insight in my online behaviour and how I spend my time

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicolet G. | Eigenaar, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2019

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

Since I started using RescueTime I became more productive only because it provides an excellent overview of how I spend my time online on my computer and offline work. I am much more conscious about my social media behavior, I must have cut my time spent on Facebook and Instagram at least by 75% resulting in more productive and focussed time during working hours.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

The interface is a bit outdated, but it works, and that's the most important thing. And it would be great if RescueTime would integrate with software like Toggle of Harvest to track time spent on client work.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

If you don't have a clue on how much time you spend on both productive and distractive things during working hours, RescueTime gives insight you need. Even the free tier is sufficient to provide you with insights enough to become more conscious and in the end, more productive.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

RescueTime helps me concentrate by cutting off distractive websites and apps after a set amount of time and, it gives me insight into how I spend my hours.

  ### 36. RescueTime Helps You Get Your Time Back

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Writing and Editing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2019

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

The best feature of this app is that it sends you a weekly summary report each Sunday so you can know what adjustments (if any) need to be made for the following week.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

I don't have anything negative to say about them. I've been using them for years and never had any problems.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

If you feel like you're not being productive at work or want to maximize the time you spend on your computer RescueTime is for you.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

RescueTime allows me to make more of my time. Also, being able to set goals for multiple things is very beneficial. So, as how much time you want to spend on distractions and how much time you want to spend on the business.

  ### 37. Great integrations for auto-tracking daily work

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2019

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

The integrations were amazing. I particularly benefitted from automatically logging my git commits (Github integration) and my emails (Gmail integration).

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

The Bitbucket / MS Outlook integrations are lacking. I loved auto logging emails sent, meetings, and commits made with other services (Github / Gmail).

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

This was a lifeline as a freelancer / remote worker. At the end of the day, I had a quick outline of all my work for the day which could be quickly shared with my clients / employers.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used this program to create detailed logs of my daily work activities. It is significantly easier to consult my activity and integrated logs for client billing versus timers mixed with manual logging.

  ### 38. Decent time tracking software with a few limitations

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2019

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

I like the concise data reporting and presentation.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

The software should be more customisable and offer more features ie more specific/enhanced website/software time breakdowns.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

Make sure you configure things properly from the start; you'll have more robust data and the software will work better if you ensure things are optimally configured.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software keeps me accountable to myself and others when working on projects which are difficult to log time for.

  ### 39. Very good time tracker and productivity helper

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2019

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

The time tracking is very good, tracks everything: laptop, mobile, web and apps. The categories and the productivity grades are fantastic.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

Sometimes under Linux OS, it gets stuck, so it needs to be restarted. Other than that, There is literally nothing I dislike in this tool, it has everything I need, even the smallest features, and all that for free.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

Try it, I can bet you'll like it.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm becoming more productive cause it reminds me not to waste time. My time management has also improved. Also I can understand precisely how I'm spending my time, so I can cut down somewhere in order to improve something else.

  ### 40. The best tool to track your productivity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2019

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

There are lots and lots of different reports, and a number of ways to customize and parse and filter all of the data to find the statistics you're looking for.
You can customize the categories and productivity level of any activity. You can also create your own categories, and enter your own activities (manually or with the API).
The information is very accurate, and it is also possible to obtain the file names of the files you've been working on (in Word or Excel, for example).

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

There is an Android app to track your productivity on your mobile devices, but none for iOS. This is a restriction on Apple's side, and it would be really nice to see an integration of Apple's Screen Time data in RescueTime in the future. Simply be aware that this is currently a limitation.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

Even if RescueTime costs me some money, it allows me to bill time to my clients that I would have forgotten or underestimated if I didn't use it.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to stay productive during the day, and prevents me from wasting too much time on issues and move on to other things to clear my head.
It's also very useful to know how much time you spent on various tasks in order to do your timesheets and bill your clients accordingly!
Turning work into a game allows me to do more in less time, and not staying up late at work!

  ### 41. Best for Productivity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Legal Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2019

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

RescueTime lets me know where my time is going, especially on days where it feels like it has flown by. It helps me pay attention to where I can make the most out of my day.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

I don't really dislike anything, per se, but I would appreciate if more common websites were recognized as productive, when they are business-related (e.g. the Secretary of State) or etc.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've realized how much time I was spending on distracting social media sites while at work, and RescueTime has really taught me how to better manage the time that I do have during the day, to make the most of it. I take less work home because of this.

  ### 42. Best productivity tracker

Everything. It tracks all PC and phone usage, it separates into productivity levels and categories. It is really good to see if you are wasting too much time and it gives you the push you need to get better.

Sometimes under Ubuntu, it gets stuck, so you need to restart it. But it doesn't happen very often.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Grace M. | Documentation Manager, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2018

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

I have been using Rescue Time for a couple of years. I like how the icon itself is discreet, but it keeps me honest about how I am using my time. It does a pretty good job organizing the types of sites and apps I visit, and it's easy to recategorize when something on my weekly report looks wrong.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

The only real issue I have with Rescue Time is that it occasionally mis-characterizes sites I visit in a strange way. The longer I use it, though, the less frequently that seems to happen.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

I have recommended Rescue Time to several friends and colleagues. Of the time tracking tools I've used, it has been the easiest and most stable. I'd give it a try.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Rescue Time to keep myself on task and keep track of how i am spending my work hours. It's a productivity tool.

  ### 46. Good to get a baseline of your computer usage

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2018

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

RescueTime worked in the background and was able to quantify my time using different computer software.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

There were a lot of emails sent by the company that filled up my mailbox.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

I think the program could be less clunky and they could send fewer emails. I think more pop-ups or progress bars like the Timebar app or some pomodoro-style collaborations would be good.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Better accountability of work time spent.

  ### 47. Let all the time count

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Agnė . | Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

  ### 48. Great metrics so long as they record accurately

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anne A. | Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2017

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

Rescue Time works on a variety of devices from phones/tablets to computers. It has easy to install add-ons for Browsers as well. All of those things make it easy and efficient to track how you spend your time.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

I found that the tracking was not always reliable, and given that I am relying on RescueTime to track my usage, this is a major drawback. For example, it only recorded me as using Powerpoint for 40 minutes when I was giving a 3-hour presentation. This may be because I wasn't actively modifying the presentation or perhaps because my presentation was on more than one screen, but it made me doubt how accurate Rescuetime is.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

Try RescueTime out for a few weeks while also tracking your time more generally. Verify that it is accurately measuring your time and determine how best you plan to use its Metrics. While the metrics are detailed and valuable, some companies may try to use it to micromanage employees. That could lead to low morale or workarounds.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many jobs today require rapid multi-tasking and it can be difficult to understand how we spend our time. By tracking the amount of time we spend on email, various websites, etc., RescueTime makes it possible to figure out how to become MORE efficient. It is MOST useful for entrepreneurs or individuals working independently to track the amount of time they spend on productive vs. non productive websites and programs.

  ### 49. Keep yourself on track

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben M. | Writer / Final Pass Editor / Topics Master, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2017

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

Discrete tool that runs on your machine, monitoring your production during working hours. Set your productive tasks and goals and see how you do in meeting your targets.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

Design of the website is a bit dated. Mac program could should daily stats from the menubar.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

Great tool to use for self motivation and focus for productivity.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Self motivation and monitoring of work productivity.

  ### 50. Essential software for tracking on-computer time and usage

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2017

**What do you like best about RescueTime?**

Rescuetime runs in the background with minimal unnecessary interactions. It keeps track of what windows I'm working in, including what sites I visit. It gives me feedback whenever I want it to keep track of my productivity or to identify where I'm wasting time. It's customizable in terms of categories and how things are assigned to categories--e.g., for me, a certain program that would normally be considered a distraction is classified as physical exercise because I only use it while riding my bike.

**What do you dislike about RescueTime?**

It's minimally useful for keeping track of things offline / off computer. You can enter offline time manually, but there's no seamless integration.

**Recommendations to others considering RescueTime:**

Try the free version to see how well it measures your on-computer time.

**What problems is RescueTime solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to identify what I spend my time on; helps with efficiency. I used it while writing my dissertation to help me keep on track and ensure that I spent at least 6 hours per day in the writing/research category.
