**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Redgate Monitor?**

SQL Monitor has been a breath of fresh air for our organization. Our database team has been able to manage our very large 300+ server environment with ease. We are able to act on alerts quicker than ever and can proactively get ahead of issues. Our service center is also able to use the monitor for overnight monitoring. We are able to show non DBAs how to use the tool and they are not only able to but excited to get eyes into our most important systems. We have also been able to closely work with RedGate to influence the development of new features in the tool.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Monitor?**

Negotiating pricing. RedGate knows they are the best and charge accordingly.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Database issues. Helps us make our databases more secure and performant.

  ### 20. Redgate monitor

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

No comments thusfar working with Redgate monitor since I started early 2024.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Makes my life as DBA a lot easier and more efficient.

  ### 21. Excellent product, easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan G. | Divisional Information Security Officer, Media Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Redgate Monitor?**

Simple interface, easy to customize. Color coding is pleasant. Frequent updates

**What do you dislike about Redgate Monitor?**

Drilling down can sometimes take weird steps.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Monitoring SQL Server for blocks and unauthorized access. Displays restarts and long queries, Job deviations. I like how it groups similar errors together to simplify review. You can also segment servers into groups like Production UAT and DEV. Support is excellent too. Quick to respond, and knowledgebase is excellent for self serve support as well. I find Red-Gate to be an excellent company, supporting the Database users community extensively.

  ### 22. Replaced an existing monitoring tool and it was a game changer.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Redgate Monitor?**

The ability to have both a single pane of glass and custom panes of glass to monitor our environment.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Monitor?**

When using recompile on SQL statements, you may miss out on some of the capturing of statements the tool can do.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing specific views to subsets of users. It has provided real insights on statements where we can improve performance. The overall view in a single pane of glass helps us see the big picture quickly.

  ### 23. Redgate Monitor is a great tool for troubleshooting performance issues

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Redgate Monitor?**

Redgate Monitor is easy to use and provides a lot of useful information without being overwhelming.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Monitor?**

I've used other monitoring solutions and unlike others, Redgate doesn't have data for sessions and a given point in time. It does have top queries for a time period which is often enough, but some times it is nice to be able to see all session data.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Performance tuning, blocking/locking/disk space and other miscellaneous alerts

  ### 24. Excellent tool, but pricey

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2024

**What do you like best about Redgate Monitor?**

Redgate Monitor fulfills my needs as a DB Administrator. I can easily Monitor a large group of SQL Servers, and adding custom checks and alerts is child's playy. The support, too, is top-notch.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Monitor?**

Of course, the monitoring account needs pretty high privileges. Additionally, licences aren't cheap, but in my opinion, the value you get out of it is worth the money.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Identifying resource bottlenecks, preventing system outages, projecting future resource consumption

  ### 25. It does what it says on the tin

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Redgate Monitor?**

The tool does a good job of providing features I wish were in the base product.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Monitor?**

At nearly the price of a SQL Server license, it's a bit expensive.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps track down and solve issues before they become problems.

  ### 26. Intuitive and really useful for troubleshooting SQL server issues

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Defense & Space | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Redgate Monitor?**

We have been using RedGate Monitoring Tool for SQL servers for the past two years, every day, and since then i could form an opinion on the following:

Ease of Use:
Interface: A user-friendly interface with clear dashboards updated in real-time and intuitive navigation .

Alerting System: A very well-configured and higly customizable alerting system that displays timely notifications about performance issues or potential bottlenecks saves time and prevents problems from escalating.

Troubleshooting: Easy-to-understand performance reports with clear visualizations and actionable insights which makes it easy to identify problems. Also, plenty of refence documentation helping with the troubleshooting

Ease of implementation:
Initial setup: The installation is straightforward and supported by useful documentation.
Monitoring setup: Adding and removing servers from the monitoring dashboard is easy and straightfoarward, with documentation provided in case of issues.

Monitoring and operations:
We use RedGate monitoring tool daily to perform our daily routine checkups and to proactively monitor for any issues throughout the day, which helped us prevent and reduce the number of incidents significantly since implementation

**What do you dislike about Redgate Monitor?**

From personal experience, these are a few things that i would like to see in future versions:

Server monitoring: It would be a nice feature to be able to select the servers inside the cluster that we want to monitor, instead of having, by default, all the servers in the WSFCI added into the dashboard.

Reporting: the reporting functionality is highly useful and customizable, helping us to chose from a large variety of parameters, but it would be great to be able to have a few reports on more generic topics such as: availability group details, database information (size, location, extended properties, etc) , cluster details, user and security configuration details.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SQL Monitoring has been helping the Database team to perform the daily monitoring checks (backups, overall health, availability, etc) within a single, user-frendly interface. It contributed a lot in proactively monitoring and preventing incidents to our environments.

  ### 27. All your monitoring needs in one package

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Redgate Monitor?**

I have been using Redgate SQL Monitor for a few years now, after testing several competing solutions, and although, it is a bit pricey (although, considering the work and continuous development invested in the application, it is NOT pricey), I strongly consider that the solution is worth every cent.
Especially when monitoring vast environments, you get a holistic view on your estate health and can easily and quickly identify if something is not working as expected so that you can proactively intervene.
Implementation is a breeze as well.
Customer support is amazing and very, very responsive.
Easy problem identification thanks to the vast amount of information available, easy monitoring of the estate at a single view.
I am strongly encouraging everyone to test this solution, as it provides a friendly overview for novice or seasoned DBAs and, not only.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Monitor?**

I consider that the updates installation, could be improved, a bit, so that the experience can reach the same level as the product itself.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For us, SQL Monitor is providing a glass pane to check the state of the estate, to check the Agent jobs outcome, waits, performance of the servers, deadlocks, long queries, disk capacity and so, so many other potential problems that can be addressed before any impact is seen on the end-user side.

  ### 28. Great proactive monitoring, but difficult to set up with an AlwaysOn Availability Group

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Redgate Monitor?**

It proactively gathers metrics, so you have the data you need to troubleshoot even if you didn't know in advance that you would need to collect some specific metric. The analysis and alerting tools are rich and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Monitor?**

If you have servers in an AlwaysOn Availability Group, it wants to connect to all of them as well as the load balancer. If your load balancer isn't configured to pass WMI as well as SQL traffic, SQL Monitor will fail to install. That can be a problem if you don't have permission to change the load balancer configuration.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Proactive monitoring of SQL servers in production environments. Rich data for troubleshooting problems.

  ### 29. Centralized Monitoring Tool for our Amazon Relational Database Cluster - SQL Monitor

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Varshini S. | Database Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Redgate Monitor?**

SQL Monitor effectively helps me overcome various bottlenecks of my SQL servers and ensures performance utilization with high efficiency. It provides high availability and failover notifications for both our active and passive nodes in our cluster. Capacity planning is also great for managing our memory and buffer allocation with SQL Monitor.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Monitor?**

More workload is imposed in our SQL server as SQL monitor operates 24/7 for monitoring server activities. In order to improve this workload, we can opt for database clusters with a large number of worker nodes to optimize capacity management.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SQL Monitor effectively monitors our Amazon RDS clusters. It provides detailed performance metrics and notification alerts. As its centralized monitoring tool, there isn't any location or platform dependencies involved. Troubleshooting is great as I am able to group our RDS performance metrics & I can customize our instance alerts based on client priotity standards. API integration is seamless between Amazon Relational Database Service and SQL Monitor which is a big positive aspect for our continuous monitoring requirements.

  ### 30. SQL Monitor gets the job done.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Redgate Monitor?**

I can see all my servers on a single window. I can see their health and instantly drill down for a more detailed look at what's going on.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Monitor?**

Can be cumbersome to set up and configure, but overall worth the effort.

**Recommendations to others considering Redgate Monitor:**

Get training on the product, and be ready to be amazed!

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We know immediately if a server isn't performing optimally. And we can instantly see the data we need to address the issue.

  ### 31. Redgate tools are a must have for anyone with a big SQL server instance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan N. | CEO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Redgate Monitor?**

Redgate's tools just work and SQL Monitor is no different. I have used a lot of tools but the redgate tools zero in on what you need to know and cut out the noise. It is very easy to diagnose your problems and get alerts before problems hit you out of the box.

**What do you dislike about Redgate Monitor?**

Not much. Maybe pricing? The redgate stuff can tend to get expensive if you have a lot of instances. For example, we had one MASSIVE server that absolutely required a license. We also had 40 instances that needed very light monitoring - it was just too expensive to go with SQL Monitor for all those little instances.

**Recommendations to others considering Redgate Monitor:**

Look at their entire suite of tools. Even the sql cloning stuff they have is a life send if you have a development shop that needs a lot of instances or data refreshes. They can even manipulate data and scramble data for test environments. Makes it really easy.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In a 24 hour organization - up time is a must. It gave us a fighting chance against all of those problems that just "come up". Poorly performing execution plans, drive size, paging issues, memory, hug threads, bad actor users... it does it all.

  ### 32. I have one year experience in using SQL Monitor

1) it do not provide any fix or suggestions to fix performance issues.
2) The constant monitoring of SQL server present load on sql server.
3) there are not enough templates to monitor server.
4) monitor reports are not customisable to be sent to DBA or SQL Developer

**Recommendations to others considering Redgate Monitor:**

It is a great tool to monitor SQL server health.

**What problems is Redgate Monitor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1) We are getting auto notification for health check on sql server.
2) It provides monitor reports. These reports are easy way to find issues in the system.
3) it helps to have effective resource management by reviewing the utilisation of resources.
