Quality Obstetrics (OB) Reviews & Product Details

HealthStream's Quality OB program is an online perinatal education and simulation software that helps obstetrical care teams develop clinical judgment, maintain competency, and align their practice with current regulatory and professional guidelines. The program provides an evidence-based, interdisciplinary learning environment where nurses and providers can build competence and confidence in managing high-risk obstetrical events. It combines didactic course content with microsimulations that replicate realistic clinical scenarios, allowing teams to practice decision-making in a controlled setting. Designed for health systems who care for maternal and neonatal populations, Quality OB serves nurses, physicians across the OB and ED departments. Its curriculum is aligned with guidelines from the Joint Commission, the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). The program uses pre- and post-assessments, application-based learning modules, and virtual simulation to reinforce learning and track improvements in practice over time. Key features and benefits include: - Interdisciplinary microsimulations that recreate high-risk, low-volume obstetrical scenarios in a risk-free environment for hands-on decision-making practice. - Curriculum alignment with Joint Commission, NICHD, AWHONN, and ACOG standards to support regulatory compliance and evidence-based care. - Pre and post-assessments that establish baseline knowledge and measure competency gains across individuals and teams. - Application-based learning modules focused on developing clinical judgment rather than rote knowledge retention. - Operational support that helps reduce administrative burden, meet regulatory requirements, and improve both patient outcomes and organizational margins. Common use cases include onboarding, ongoing competency validation, standardizing care across facilities, and preparing teams for accreditation and regulatory review.
