"Fast and Lightweight on Old PCs, but Compatibility Can Be Hit-or-Miss"

What do you like best about Puppy?

Puppy was very lightweight and fast compared to other operating systems. It runs smoothly even on older or low-end computers, without requiring a lot of RAM or storage space. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Puppy?

it is very lightweight, it sometimes feels limited compared to full-featured operating systems. Some modern applications and drivers may not work smoothly, and software compatibility can occasionally be an issue Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A portable operating system that provides convenience and security"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Puppy?

To put things in context, we use Puppy Linux primarily as a portable operating system, booted from a USB thumb drive, which we carry everywhere we go.

Creating a bootable USB drive with Puppy Linux on a Windows 10 personal computer was a breeze. We used Rufus for this task, and the entire process, including downloading Fossapup64 9.5, was smooth and took less than 5 minutes. Likewise, setting up the operating system on the first boot was straightforward, thanks to its intuitive user interface and helpful prompts.

Puppy Linux includes applications, including Pale Moon web browser and AbiWord. With these out-of-the-box applications serving our needs, we have not had to install additional applications.

The graphical user interface is easy to use. Everyday tasks, like opening and closing applications, folders, and files, feel snappy.

At the end of each session, we can save the session, including settings and the files created or downloaded during the session. In this way, we can continue from where we left off on the next boot, thus saving us the time and inconvenience of configuring things such as the internet connection and firewall again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Puppy?

Puppy meets all our needs for a simple-to-use portable operating system, which enables us to perform tasks like checking emails, internet banking, and web browsing. I cannot think of any downsides to using Puppy Linux. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Puppy Linux Made My Old Older Computer Fast"
5/5
What do you like best about Puppy?

It was a quick and easy USB boot and install. Once it was up and going, I could do all the basic computing tasks someone would need throughout the day. It is grandma and grandpa friendly, and it is a fun, low resource-intensive OS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Puppy?

As a Ubuntu and mac user, The workflow and application install is a bit different. The interface is a bit dated but I suppose that is to keep the resources to a minimum. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
