## About Principle
Principle makes it easy to design animated and interactive user interfaces. Whether you're designing the flow of a multi-screen app, or new interactions and animations, Principle helps you create designs that look and feel amazing.

## Principle Reviews
 ### 1. Easy and reliable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mariana S. | U, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Principle?**

I enjoy all the different options for microinteractions that Principle offers. Compared with Figma, it has significantly more in-depth and comprehensive options for different animations and allows for much more extensive, unique interactions.

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

It's a bit of a learning curve at first. Some of the commands aren't the same (Command + D, for example) and it's a bit difficult to differentiate from different screens on the left side layers panel.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm improving the delight of our user's experience in using Principle. Different elements interact seamlessly with each other and the flow is exceptional when the prototype is completed.

 ### 2. Awesome Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Onur K. | Digital Marketing Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Principle?**

Principle helps to create awesome animation and easy to use

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

The export side is very bad, especially getting gifs is a bit of a challenge and the file size does not help to optimize it.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can animate the interface quickly without the need for after effects.

 ### 3. Amazing motion design tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Principle?**

Principle is the best tool I've used for prototyping and design motion and animations in user interfaces. It's great at what it does, without all the bloat and learning curve of something like After Effects.

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

Importing from Sketch can be flaky, or you have to design your sketch artboards with Principle in mind. Not as robust export options as other more powerful tools, but also not what it's for.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickly and simply designing and testing different UI animations. Easy to tweak and prototype, then pass specs to developers.

 ### 4. Principle & Sketch

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Principle?**

The integration is seamless and allows me to work quickly and efficiently to take my mock-ups to prototypes.

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

The preview window at times seems to get in the way of my work.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating prototypes quickly from sketch mock-ups

 ### 5. Realistic and speedy prototyping

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Principle?**

I love that I have the ability to create prototypes that use native iOS scrolling, gestures, animations (bezier curves), etc. It makes for a much more realistic experience when
1. Testing out interactions as a designer
2. Doing user testing. The users they feel like they're using a real production app

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

Some typical MacOS shortcuts are missing that you'd expect. e.g. zoom to selection, keyboard shortcuts for manipulating layers. Mostly things that are present in Sketch and Figma and since you're working in those tools in tandem I'd expect them to be in Principle.
Custom fonts are difficult to use if planning on using the app on a real device. They have to be installed using a third party app. Easy work around is to use flattened bitmap layers to get the font you want
Would love to be able to add a remote control as a side bar to the viewport. Have done some TV prototypes and had to build my own remote control within the artboard.

**Recommendations to others considering Principle:**

Note that their is no Android support as expected since its a native Mac App.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helpful in communicating animations and interactions to stakeholders and developers.

 ### 6. Easy to animate an iterate with your prototypes

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Diego C. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Principle?**

The way that we really can have goods quality animations iterations of a product, without any problem, also I like the way that principle is connected with other platforms and is easy to import artboards from other tools

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

In my particular case, I dislike the way how we animate from one artboard to another, and if you don't take care of the name of shape and groups the animation can be very messy, also I think that principle should sport a Jason file as Lottie Does.

**Recommendations to others considering Principle:**

If you need the power to make animations and iteration FAST, you should use principle.

Principle helped us to validate with clients and developers how will be the iterations of many apps, easy to use, and easy to learn.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Quick animations to show the behavior of some components in products to developers
- You can design the iterations and transitions of a product using Principle
- Great iteration with other tools like skech to import te artboards
- Quick animation in a video to explain with a visual tool how will interact the product you're designing
- Quick presentations to discuss with clients your designs

 ### 7. Invaluable prototyping tool for designers to communicate ideas to others.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Principle?**

User-friendly graphical user interface for creating visual prototypes to envision my ideas.

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

Very disappointing that tool does not have web sharing capability like all other prototyping tools in this highly competitive market.

**Recommendations to others considering Principle:**

Principle is great prototype tool for designers and non-coders but it does not have sharing capability via web.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Non visual stakeholders have hard time visioning the product. One functional or interactive prototype in Principle can be used in conveying my ideas rather than having 20 powerpoint slides or wireframes.

 ### 8. Quick UI animations

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2020

**What do you like best about Principle?**

Quick and easy to use to create simple animation

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

It is for Mac users only and not for Windows users

**Recommendations to others considering Principle:**

Not bad to try its features compared to other alternatives

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simply creating animations for interactive UI

 ### 9. Poor integration with sketch.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2020

**What do you like best about Principle?**

Easy to create animations and transitions between screens.

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

Limitation and poor integration with sketch. Also very iOS focused rather Android and web.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to demonstrate to developers and clients as well as others designers how the motion for that app will look like so they can develop the same.

 ### 10. Super intuitive animation software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Beatrice C. | UX/UI Designer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Principle?**

Principle animation is a software for animating UI elements and providing neat interaction effects. It is super intuitive and it supports Figma and Sketch, allowing also to directly import the sketch files you have open on your computer in that moment.
The interface is simple and easy to use without having to go through multiple tutorials. You can achieve pretty smooth animations very quickly, even if you are a beginner. You can also create basic shapes and text directly in Principle

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

Achieving more complex animations can be tricky if not impossible (such as circular animations or the typing text effect - you have to create an artboard for displaying every single letter). It would be great if there would be more straightforward features for these kind of effects. Also, if you copy and paste some elements from a sketch artboard to a principle artboard, they are pasted as a flat images.

**Recommendations to others considering Principle:**

Great starting point for animations, without having to dive in complex software such as After effects.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is easy to give life to interfaces and show to developers the animations and the effects you want to achieve.

 ### 11. Powerful Animations for digital products

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Principle?**

I like how principle is straightforward to learn and use, I accidentally make the trial and I was amazed that is an excellent app an I spend 20 minutes to animate my first user interface, it is elementary to use, export and share animation an also have a reasonable price in the market.

Another thing that I want to highlight is the way that you easy import from sketch es like magic, and also how it put the vector graphics in place.

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

When you import form sketch you need to be careful about the names of the shapes, because they will animate the elements with the same name so is confusing when you´re a beginner because when you play your frist animation you´ll se elements mooving in a ramdom approach if you named it badly

**Recommendations to others considering Principle:**

If you´re using User-Centered methodologies to do your projects, you should use Principle to test iterations in a fast way to have the most valuable experience in a short amount of time.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed to build small iterations for developers but also for customers to see how the apps will animate in terms of transitions, illustration, and even behavior of the buttons, principle helped us doing that in a short time.

 ### 12. Good for animating design prototypes straight from Sketch

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dobs T. | Senior UI/UX Designer & Founder, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Principle?**

The options that it allows you to animate the design prototypes straight from the sketch. The smoothness that the animation comes out. The ability to export in .mov and .gifs straight out of the Principle Preview. The different easing options that the animation builder allows you to use.

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

It's not very straight forward and easy to use. Sometimes you get confused when building animation and sometimes even though you know the software you don't know how the animation would turn out. The logic between linking different artboards is a bit confusing and needs a lot of practice to get it right, but eventually, once you do turns out to do magical things.

**Recommendations to others considering Principle:**

If you need to bring a design to life and showcase it's interactions it's a great tool to use to do that.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to bring designs to life in real-world prototypes that you can hold in your hand on your mobile device and experience it for yourself. It solves the problem of not only viewing a static design but also seeing it's interactions.

 ### 13. A great tool for making animations and interactive prototypes.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven O. | Digital Product Designer, Hospital & Health Care, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Principle?**

I like the ability to turn artboards into quick animations. I can import these artboards from Sketch or make them on my own in Principle.

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

This program isn't ideal for making large design systems.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Animation and interaction is an important part of making digital products. Principle is also an easy-to-use tool for making animations for social media and presentations to stakeholders. It has also been really good to use for developer handoffs. When I present my artboards, I provide the images and specs of each, but I also provide animations of how they should interact together.

 ### 14. Principle for quick prototyping

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Principle?**

The fact that you can do so much in such a quick period of time

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

Too simple that becomes limited, especially the fact that you cannot import text from Sketch

**Recommendations to others considering Principle:**

Keep in mind is not a prototyping tool to build very complex prototypes. It's mostly used to define an idea, to demonstrate a behavior.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick prototyping, animation ideas, mockups for developer hand-off

 ### 15. Amazing tool. But lacks flexibility

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Principle?**

This is the best software for any designer or UI Developer to begin with. For somebody who hasn't given much time in Flash or other time frame based tools.

**What do you dislike about Principle?**

Flexibility, Now is only available as Principle for Mac and lacks fully supported import from Photoshop or XD. Would love to have auto animate features fully developed.

**Recommendations to others considering Principle:**

Give yourself a shot at Principle if you wanted to start implementing or help develop interactive prototypes.

**What problems is Principle solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping to make app interaction presentations in initial stages of designs to give the user a interactive feel.
