While it includes onboard storage for caching logs, it still integrates well with legacy log collection systems such as Kiwi Syslog. they are also on the leaders magic quadrant **What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls?** Their pricing is steep and is separated into different parts, such as a DNS subscription, Threat Intelligence, and more which can make it a bit complicated to understand and manage. Support is provided via a reseller and not directly with Palo Alto in my region. It stops brand new threats in seconds without requiring us to wait for manual updates. The accuracy of these features ensures our team doesn't waste time chasing false alarms, allowing us to focus only on real threats. **What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls?** The upfront hardware cost is already high, but the ongoing licensing is where it really hurts. It allows you to group interfaces into zones rather than having a single interface per zone, which helps in large networks. It also has powerfull tools to monitor and improve an existing network, such as using the ACC and policy optimiser. The routing engine is quite good, allows you to create complex routing paths which is usually reserved for larger routing devices. Deploying on a VM compared to physical appliances is also great. Having a limitation of 1 subnet per interface as a DHCP scope. Often times you'll find other vendors referencing max throughput which is measured in really strict conditions and/or without utilizing full security features on firewall. This is often times really missleading. When you look at PANW firewall throughput, it's measured while having all the beneficial services running. AppID is really mind blowing part of the Firewall. From Reducing the attack surface by approving exactly what is the bare minimum of necessary apps. (Firewall it self offloads this for you, using the Policy Optimizer) all the way to knowing the impact of using such appliactions. Generaly, features by themselves are something that you expect from firewall to have, however the approach that was taken, Reducing the Attack surface, is really what makes the ZTNA possible. This allows us to use it at the application level. It is easy to implement as well with standard protocols and libraries. **What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls?** Trust and safety is still a concern since it is an external firewall and security system as compared to inhouse or self developed systems.Many aspects of the firewall are abstracted which do not give as much level of control sometimes. **What problems is Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls solving and how is that benefiting you?** The PAN next gen firewalls are helping with setting up security settings and safeguards for our web applications, APIs and other resources exposed to our customers.We use it to detect and block unwanted or risky applications while allowing safe ones to function when we rely on other applications. We also inspect and analyze encrypted traffic for threats before they can enter the network. This gives us visibility into our threats, risks and top security concerns. ### 43. It has also been very easy to onboard people to teach them how to use it, which hasn't been my experience with some competitors. Overall, it does it's job of securing our systems well. **What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls?** In my experience, it essentially just boils down to the cost. It is noticeably pricier compared to it's alternatives. **What problems is Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is a very robust firewall solution that has been easy to work with. I am on the user side of things, so not entirely sure how hard it is to maintain, however I do have experience setting it up and that was pretty easy to figure out. We have 50+ firewalls in our organisation ranging from PA-220 and to PA-5000s series and we use panorama to manage these firewalls which makes the management easy. Also the URL firteling, WildLife threats and use of EDLs are also one of the great features of the firewalls. The options you have while implementing the new firewalls rules is something that is helpful where you can customize your rule however you want. It is very easy to implement the firewall rules, even a fresher in the security industry can easily grasp it. Finally, the customer support, Palo Alto's customer support are very responsive and so far whatever engagement I had with them were always very prompt and very promising. They were able to help from technical to sales in a very excellent way. **What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls?** The only downside of using the Palo Alto Firewalls is there resolution of bugs. When you report a bug it takes few weeks for them to resolve that and get new patches of the software version. **What problems is Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are a university and firewalls are big part of our security infrastructure. We have custom requirements which we get on daily basis and the way the firewalls handles and helps in easing out the implementation is outstanding. ### 49.
