Usually NXT is used for normal transactions, has wallets for all common platforms including mobile (Android tested).
Additionally you have the opportunity to generate your own public chains, which comes with a web server serving your administration panel and your main wallet.
This chains have much more features, that could be provided to your own blockchain network.
You need minimum 2 clients to activate, one admin wallet and one user wallet.
Once running you are able to send encrypted instant messaging, make voting and polls, generated additional currencies and all kinds of assets and much more.
The wallets are running Javascript and the consensus is Proof-of-stake!
How-Tos for configure and generating your blockchain, are enough places to find.
I recommend the Nxt Wiki, which helps in 99% of cases!
Generating your own blockchain is very cheap (~10€). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The installation on linux needs tech knowledge, because you have to programm on shell and have to edit configuration scripts.
The windows installation is easier, but changing interface needs always new compilation of the network server.
Synchronization of the peers needs time, especially when blockchain grows, because the peer communication is slow (which didn't change through configuration). Maybe performance get better, as soon as you have enough peers on air.
For my experience, it would be nicer with implemented masternodes and configurable reward systems. At that time, I worked with it, I couldn't find something about it, maybe there is a solution for masternodes today. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
