&lt;p&gt;From what I&#39;ve heard, a genuine industry focus does seem to translate into fewer surprises, mostly because a reseller who&#39;s already implemented for similar companies knows which customizations that industry always needs and builds them in from the start rather than discovering the gap mid-project. It doesn&#39;t eliminate configuration work entirely, retail and manufacturing companies still have plenty of company-specific quirks, but it does seem to cut down on the generic-implementation-then-retrofit pattern that shows up when a reseller is learning the industry&#39;s needs at the same time as building the system.&lt;/p&gt;
