"Nuke description"
4/5
What do you like best about Nuke?

The thing I like about nuke is that nuke offers a limitless, integrated 3D environment that lets you create and render complex scenes composed of 2D footage, 3D models, cards, basic geometry, cameras, lights, and meshes. Great for camera projections for set replacements and other tasks where you need to simulate a "real" environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nuke?

There is some one-off work that doesn't follow this guideline, like character animation. By its very nature, it must be unique each time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Nuke Compositong"
5/5
What do you like best about Nuke?

As a VFX Compositor, Nuke is my go-to program. It's easy to use, and I love it. It's the industry's standard, in my opinion. It has helped me with my work to create scenes and visual effects for movies and TV shows. It also lets the user create their own tools through coding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nuke?

There is nothing I dislike. This program is straight forward and very helpful, as a compositor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best 3D compositing software"
5/5
What do you like best about Nuke?

Node based system, vast dynamic range, multichannel support and native linear workflow. The camera projection is pretty solid. It's much better than Maya. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nuke?

The timeline is hard to edit. Compared to After Effects, which is layer/ timeline based compositing software. Sliding footage in timeline is painful in Nuke. I think it worth being addressed in the future version. 3D modeling tool is a lame, it could be so much more powerful if Nuke can do little more complex modeling. That helps in Any projection situation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The standard compositing tool in the industry"
5/5
What do you like best about Nuke?

-I'm new at Nuke, and the first amazing thing about this software is the Non-commercial Licence (pssst its Free) With this you can learn and create amazing stuff for portfolio or non commercial projects, A lot of learning resources such as Digital tutors, gnomon workshop, and many free tutorials in the Nuke forums and youtube, the nodal workflow is easy and pretty much like layers and Nuke have a real 3D environment, you don't need to buy extra plugins to do that, and you can import the standard formats like FBX and OBJ., Native integration if you're using Modo as main 3D software Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nuke?

The price of the commercial license is too high for a freelancer or small studio. You can't rent the software per month., bit scary when you open it for the first time, but after that, you'll love the interface Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"NUKE is the dominant compositing package"
3/5
What do you like best about Nuke?

NUKE is definitely perceived as the Gold standard of compositing programmes and The Foundry make sure it will stay that way. There really isn't very much that can't be done in NUKE, from basic compositing and rotoscoping, to excellent 3D file support and with particle systems and a great library of plugins, NUKE shows its pedigree of being developed deep in the heart of the Hollywood VFX industry when you use it. From its exceptionally quick UI, to wide feature set. NUKE is a powerhouse. With the addition of NUKE STUDIO the FOundry has added an excellent shot management system which can handle complete productions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nuke?

NUKE's price always gets in the way especially since a lot of NUKE's competitors are either free to entry or available for a much lower cost. However, you can get a version of NUKE for free for non-commercial and learning work. As you can do anything with NUKE, the guts of the application and the processes are laid bare, so it can take much longer to setup what seem like simple comps, but once setup the Nodal workflow of NUKE really comes into it's own. "Very thorough and impressive software!"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Nuke?

The sheer magnitude of Nuke is impressive. This is one of those software that you can get completely enthralled in. You could practice with it for weeks, months, or years, and it seems like you would still learn new things every day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nuke?

It can seem a bit daunting to work with at first. I've had experience with both 3D animation software and video editing software, as well as other things, like After Effects and there are times when I feel like I need to Google how to do things in Nuke. It's no fault of Nuke - the shortcomings are merely my own. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Only way to achieve my film's look."
5/5
What do you like best about Nuke?

There is an unlimited amount of effects capabilities that Nuke allows. If there is anything the user desires to fix post-render, for example, there is no need to sweat because Nuke has your back. As a user, I find Nuke to be a much needed "security blanket" when trying to complete my film on a deadline. Without it, the final product would look 100% less impacting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nuke?

I dislike how chaotic that Nuke trees can get. It makes navigation through nodes a headache. The windows may be resizable, but I find myself scrolling back and forth through all of my layers to find certain nodes. It may be that I am still learning and haven't gotten the total hang of things yet, but I feel that the interface should have different options of viewing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Nodal Compositing in the Speed of Light"
5/5
What do you like best about Nuke?

One of the key things on Nuke is its speed and stability. It is super fast and reliable. The amount of data and complex networks that you can work here is out of this world. It always surprises me when I hit a final render. Another thing is its tracking, it is really powerful and precise, you pretty much don´t need to leave the application for most of the tasks. The introduction of deep channels in conjunction with a full 3D compositing environment makes it a powerhouse for both compositors and look developers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nuke?

I still feel that the color grading tools are not there yet. It needs a better UI for color graders with an intuitive grading workflow. Even though it has all the tools inside, the lack of dedicated interfaces for grading makes it counter productive for the task. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best Node based compositing software out there."
5/5
What do you like best about Nuke?

Nuke is the industry standard node based composting, software, it can create and handle huge compositing node flows and supports, multiple workflows including 2d and 3d compositing with included support for importing 3d geometry. Nuke allows importing/exporting 32-bit image formats like HDR, Tif, EXR, so as to retain extremely precise color workflow, through the entire nodegraph. It allows all standard blending modes and the ability to create new ones using math operators. It has a very robust toolset for solving several stereoscopic compositing related problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nuke?

The cost is extremely high to deploy, Steep learning curve for new users or users migrating from layer based compositing apps. Should have better sound syncing tools, think Adobe After Effects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
