The graphical approach will limits the option to add code, in certain blocks you can add javascript scripts but you always became limited by the block

Besides the efforts to improve the dashboards, they are still not optimal.
Node-Red makes it easy for me to create an IoT system. It has a palette/library and you just drag nodes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
