"Microsoft SQL Review"

What do you like best?

Microsft Sql server is easy to install and integrate with third party tool. Microsoft Sql server has many excellent features like Graphical Query editor, Query optimizer, Profiler and Resource monitor. I like the profiler as it helps locating a real time query creating performance issue on your application server. It provides Graphical interface for all these features and this makes life much easier. Ease of creatring new sql jobs agents. Sql server has inbuilt powerful library which helps in writing efficient queries quickly. Use Ctrl + l to see the sql execution plan. Sql server runs as a window service which gives us a control using a window service.

" perfect database manager"

What do you like best?

This database software is one of the most complete to work with, it has excellent working tools and a wide range of resources for the development and management of databases, it has help assistants for the creation of tables and queries, as well as It also has the option to write stored procedures which facilitates the development of parameterized reports and link them to other dasorrollo software. its storage capacity allows me to store a large amount of data in a very secure way

What do you dislike?

Despite having a lot of tools it is problematic to use this software because it is very heavy and it consumes a lot of computer resources, so we have to invest in good hardware that guarantees us to work efficiently, the installation process is very late and complicated and if you do not know how to perform it can go awry and you will not execute the necessary services which can bring more problems. and even without using the software the services are kept running, slowing down the work team

Recommendations to others considering the product:

in general I like this software and I recommend it, it is very complete and efficient, but to work in this software we need a high level team

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

for me it has been very useful when designing and developing administrative software for both business and personal work and since this software covers all my work needs I can use it without problems in any situation, it has been very useful for the development of systems I use in the company to classify the payments and charges creating relationships between tables to calculate the inputs and outputs and show the balences in a report, and I can calculate this report by filters using stored procedures that I develop in sql server and this is a efficient tool for these cases

"Easy Data Finder"

What do you like best?

There are many benefits of Sqlserver but the mail benefits that I love about sqlserver is its improved reliability, better performance. It has a increased scalibility over other databases and also reduced network traffic which makes this database to be one of the best database. It can be used mainly in various organisations which requires database to run their medium or large business. One best feature of microsoft sql server is its Express version or trail version which could be easily available without any cost so that users can try and use its some of the features prior to offering it to Microsoft.

What do you dislike?

The worst part of SQL server is its deployment Cost means a very large amount of cost will be payable to Microsoft in case we have to use full features of SQLSERVER. Also another drawback is its limited compatibility means SQL server is designed to work on windows platform only and not on any other platform. All other part of Sql server is good.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Recommeded to various organisation to use it

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

There are many problems that are solved by using SQL server. Main Benefits of Sql server are mentioned below:

1. Database size of SQL SERVER is over 524000 Terabites which is good enough size.

2. Also in SQL server there can be multiple concurrent users for single instance.

3. In SQL Server there can be over 2147480000 objects in a single database.

""Best database solution for Windows server""

What do you like best?

I am using MS SQL server since 2012 in my different projects. Somehow I feel MS SQL is only meant for MS servers rather than UNIX or Linux. The best part is there are a lot of functions, libraries you can get with MS SQL. It has the best performance tuning architecture.

What do you dislike?

Yeah, there are some cons also with MS SQL server.

It slows down the performance if the data limit is high. There are some limitations in using the wildcard characters. As it takes high on memory so we need a heavy environment with high on RAM and processor.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would highly recommend other Enterprises to use MS SQL for their DB solutions.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are mostly using MS SQL for our project which is basically an MS windows based project. We are running a log of SQL queries on this. Our project contains a lot of data so we need a robust environment that's why we are using WINDOWS SQL.

Highly responsive during the use. Easily able to schedule the backup of databases. Database restoration is very simple.

Its tracing feature helps us to cature the sql commands execution details/requests on server.

To improve the performance of a database we can create stastics and can review the missing index(es) detail in database tuning advisor.

Installation process takes bit more time except that did not observe any major issue in application.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Yes, great application for database management. Its suitable for all type of organizations regardless of size. Go for it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using this application to manage the databases of different applications. Its inbuilt functions and features are very useful during the database development. Improved the databases performance, availability and security.

"Best enterprise level database for development."

What do you like best?

MS SQL has been around long enough and has enough distribution that there is a tremendous amount of information out there for any situation that you might encounter. If you can ask the correctly you can find the answer. It's relatively tolerant to crashes and can be scaled to any size or cluster configuration needed. Lots of add ons available as well as tools for optimization and troubleshooting.

What do you dislike?

Microsoft's pricing has become borderline esoteric in it's level of complexity. SQL is now priced by CORE (not Proc), which can make it very expensive and confusing to license. It also needs proper tuning in order to work well - a small tweak can have huge performance issues.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Consider full price of ownership - you may need a consultant or full time administrator. Don't skimp on the hardware portion - you may need powerful machines to run the implementation - depending on your user load and type of implementation.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We run our ERP system on it and because it's SQL we have been able to customize the system to the level we need. Not a painless process, but it works. Because of the simplicity in connecting outside data I'm able to write connections to our Salesforce CRM to keep the two systems in sync. It's relatively easy to virtualize and run through cloud platforms as well.

What do you dislike?

it consume a lot of RAM for the installation and utilization of the product. it is costly as compared to other open source software available in the market. we can install this product on window operating system. A small organisation cannot afford this product.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

"my experience with sql server has been very good and productive"

What do you like best?

One of the things we like most about sql server is being able to work in client-server mode, which allows the information and data to be hosted on the server and for clients or network terminals to only access the information. Also, thanks to the fact that it is a tool that has been on the market for many years, it offers a powerful graphical administration environment, giving us a tool to perform ddl and dml commands graphically. It is very stable and secure and has a good community around it.

What do you dislike?

What to my point of view I see more unfavorable of this database tool is its high use of RAM memory in the use of the software, also for this reason it becomes slow at the time of installation if you do not have adequate resources. Also its price taking into account its competitors makes it a more expensive solution.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

What I would recommend to other users is that if you want to implement a robust and reliable database and have a good team and the budget is not a problem, do not hesitate to use sql server

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The project in which we implemented this database manager was the migration of some data from Oracle database and its interface to create ddl and dml commands in a graphical way and the ease of use allowed us to reduce considerably the time of execution of the migration.

"Best Database server for Microsoft technologies like DotNet, MVC,and Webservices etc"

What do you like best?

SQL Server is best database server to working with microsoft technologies like MVC, Dotnet, WCF and etc.

It Is provide the verious functionalities like create database and tables to create stored procedure, functions and views etc. It is also provide SSRS and SSIS features.

What do you dislike?

Microsoft SQL Server is made to support millions of records across an enterprise. Because of its robust technology, it also comes with a high price.

Users also need to learn different language to setup microsoft sql environment.

SQL Server requires the .NET framework installed on a machine, which is a separate component used by developers.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I recommend SQL server to all the programmers who are working on microsoft technologies like DotNet, WCF, MVC and Webservices and wherever they need to interact with database. It provide various functionality to working with data. It provide the better security of data also.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I almost use sql server in all my project and it is very easy to use for the programmers. it help us to manage large amount of data in a normalized manner. it help us to create reports easily using SSRS tool.

"my experience with sql server is very rewarding "

What do you like best?

What I like most about sql server is its ease of use thanks to its powerful graphical administration environment which allows you to make DDL and DML commands in a graphical way. Besides its great scalability, stability and security, it is a very mature product and has a very good community.

It also allows to work in client server mode, which allows to host the information and data in the server and the clients or terminals of the network only access the information.

What do you dislike?

What makes sql server unfavorable is the high use of ram memory for both the installation and the use of the software and the value for money compared to competitors such as oracle.

As for the implementation another unfavorable thing is that it only has support with windows operating system.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

What I would recommend to other users is that if you want a robust and reliable database and have enough budget do not hesitate to use sql server.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The project consists of migrating a visual fox pro database and since it is an e-commerce page we need a robust and reliable database, also as the team was small we need to work with the tools that allow us to move forward as quickly and simply as possible and for that reason sql server helped me a lot thanks to its simple interface to use.

It is a quite complex and complete database manager, it is robust and can store a large amount of data and records, it is compatible with windows application projects with visual basic and php web projects, it has a high level of security for databases. data and access to information, also has help assistants for the elaboration of queries between related tables and is able to perform stored procedures that is very important for large projects as this allows the generation of reports.

What do you dislike?

It is very complex and difficult to install since you have to configure a variety of servers and tools so that it can work properly, besides that the consumption of hardware in the equipment that is installed is high margin, so it can not be installed in a basic features such as access and mysql, and the configuration for use must be done by a trained staff in the area which also limits its use to basic users, and if the software is not connected, work on it in a intuitive it can turn out to be very long and complicated

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It is highly recommended to work on a large scale it is very safe and reliable but it is recommended to be well advised for the installation and configuration of this software since it is not easy to do

"application review Microsoft SQL"

What do you like best?

What do you dislike?

La principal desventaja de Microsoft SQL SERVER es la enorme cantidad de memoria RAM que utiliza para la instalación y utilización del software. Por lo demas no tengo nada negativo que acotar.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Esta plataforma de gestión de datos e informes fiable, segura y con funciones de sincronización remota y administración orientada a la ejecución de aplicaciones en oficinas y pequeños departamentos.Toda empresa o PYME les recomiendo usar este producto.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Realmente la relación calidad precio, esta por debajo de las otras marcas de manejadores de base de datos. Adicionalmente si trabajamos en una red local nos permite agregar otros servidores de SQL Server

What do you like best?

Team Microsoft;

I cannot thank you enough for the flawless technical support that you’ve given me over the last couple of weeks. The titles that you created (Matthew) for the Power BI presentation were a big hit; and the Power BI dashboard extravaganza unfolded on cue with perfect precision. My colleagues were as impressed with me as I am with you. You also did a marvelous job researching the Vice President and CFO questions (Mark) and I know that I didn’t always give you much to go on and recommending exactly software for their preferences. Without your help, I don’t think I could have met the short but urgent deadline. Regarding all for the SQL Server on Microsoft Azure Public Cloud Platform Provider.

I feel much better knowing that I have such a valuable and capable resource a phone call away.

Respectfully yours;

Thanks,

"Powerful database with a really good and intuitive editor. "

What do you like best?

Creation, administration and management of the database is really easy, even for beginners. It is fast and stable and it works good with other Microsoft products. I feel right at home when I'm using SQL Server Management Studio. It has a practical UI and of course a really helpful intellisense feature. The problems which my team and I solve require fast response and fast solutions and Microsoft SQL is of great help with that.

What do you dislike?

The price of the enterprise package might be too high for smaller companies, but I think that Microsoft's target with this product are large organizations/corporations (like mine).

Recommendations to others considering the product:

This is a product aimed at big companies/corporations with a lot of users and big databases. If you are a small company/team, there are some other more practical solutions. It is rather easy to use and highly practical. I need to stress again how fast Microsoft SQL is - that might a be big factor for some teams like mine.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My team handles a major part in administration and management of the database for one of the big US supermarket chains. Without getting into too many details, we run a lot of scripts and queries through thousands of items and transactions in order to find the cause of problems and bugs which happen during customer interactions with the Self checkouts. The speed and ease of use which Microsoft SQL is offering help us a lot and allows us to quickly pinpoint the issues.

"SQL server - A robust database tool"

What do you like best?

To manage all of our data of various customer products, we use sql server. This is a microsoft product, so we are much satisfied with product service.

It is very reliable and easy to use tool.

We can store, process and execute very large amount of data.

Very easy to learn its programming language.

Very great features such as SQL server agent, profiler, reporting etc..

One can use for all his needs of database.

What do you dislike?

Every good tool has its own limitations.

First of all its cost. It is very high.

We need good amount of RAM to properly use this. Sometimes query stucks in between. But our organization provides a great RAM, so we don't have any issue with its speed.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am using this tool from past 8 years. I use to manage data feom various products of my company. It is very easy to learn and manage.

I highly recommend this rdbms tool to everyone.

"Feature rich, highly tunable"

What do you like best?

The query analyzer is a great tuning tool. The ability to embed really anything in a stored proc or an agent job is nice for integrating other systems or using it to manage workflows. Great tools for diagnosing production issues like deadlocks

What do you dislike?

The Intellisense doesn't keep up with your changes in the editor. There should be some kind of really good visual tool for building queries. Permissions management is a real chore. It would be nice to have some way to express business logic as a set of rules rather than just write it as t-sql in sored procs, something more analyst-friendly.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Look at the size you need to scale to, Microsoft SQL gets very expensive at scale.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use it as the hub to move data across enterprise systems )financials, CRM, ERP, etc.). The SSO database is used to encrypt environment-specific meta data (passwords, logons, addresses, etc.).

"Microsoft SQL On Everything"

What do you like best?

Over the years, Microsoft finally figured out that MS SQL should run in more places - not just in Windows Server, but regular Windows and now Linux. So now you can just run whatever your platform is, and put MS SQL on it. It even has support for Macs if you can get through that process too.

The management platform is probably one of the most user friendly out there. Click, set this up, add a table, call it a day.

What do you dislike?

Some things are still esoteric, and you'll have to start looking up basic things. Like "Why can't I log into the machine and need a Windows account" or "How do I do auto-increment"? It's not difficult to figure out, but it's things that should have a "Hi, if you're using this for the first time, these are some things to look for."

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure that you have the instructions laid out. While it's easier than ever to install Microsoft SQL, that doesn't mean if you're running Linux or Mac that everything will just go right. Make sure you have the right versions, patches, and the like before you proceed.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I tend to use it because my clients do. In this case, a client had a custom CRM, and they ran it on SQL. Since there's enough plugins from PHP and C# into MS SQL, it wasn't that hard to make a connection so I could get the data I needed and plug it into the program.

"Practical and easy database manager"

What do you like best?

With my experience in the use of Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system (RDBMS) produced by Microsoft dodne Its main query language is Transact-SQL, It can also include a powerful graphical administration environment, which allows the use of DDL and DML commands graphically. It contains stability and security scalability, it also allows to work in client-server mode, where information and data are hosted on the server and terminals or clients of the network only access information. It also allows to work in client-server mode, where the information and data are hosted on the server and the terminals or clients of the network only access the information.

What do you dislike?

What I do not like is that its main disadvantages would be that it contains a large amount of RAM for the installation and use of the software. Also it only has support with Windows operating system but by experience in chat or forums of microsoft are incorporating linux for this manager in his last updates of the product.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

In my case, I must implement this database manager for having applications that use it, I must say that it is a handler that facilitates transactions support, fulfills its functions and the truth is very stable and at the time of backups it is also robust.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have third-party applications that should use only this SQL Server database manager, it would be the main benefit since without that manager the applications that we have in the organization do not run.

"Microsoft Sql Server "

What do you like best?

Very efficient RDBMS and attractive GUI based database. It allows you to modify almost every interface from the UI. I like the poweful profiler provided by Microsoft sql server that is really amazing tool for debugging the real time production issues. Profiler works as a last resort some time for fixing potentia production issues.

What do you dislike?

Does not clear up space directly after deleting the records from table and you will need to perform operations to free up the actual space on the server. Consumer much memory on the database server so designated server is must for MS Sql server.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Sql server is really a efficient RDBMS system to handle middle to large amount of data efficiently. I always recommend it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data management for our web application and reporting system. This is fast and excellent database and also has all required functionality.

"Great application and the best DB solution"

What do you like best?

His main tool SQL Server Management Studio it’s a great solution for DBA or Technology group, his GUI minimize tasks like backup, restore, change passwords or change security settings. For me as part of a security department it's important to audit a change user privileges with a single click. Another benefit allows us integration with other solutions (like antivirus, CRM, etc) with local solutions and cloud solutions.

For less known users try free version, then you can decided what to buy. Be part of Microsoft solutions it’s a plus, allowing us to do task with server configuration and upgrade without issues.

What do you dislike?

His price could be a pain for IT departments, if you compared against other product or free editions. Sometimes customer support take too much time to solve an issue, it’s annoying that issue only can be solved by patching. You need an experienced Microsoft Partner to deploy large environments, those partners increase licensing and services price allot. As users we need better services with lower prices.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

For me the most important it’s do test on a free environment, evaluate if all your products are compatible with this solution and then contact an experienced partner.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

More than a problem it's a solution for daily task and a secure environment to deploy all our services (antivirus, security, crm, etc).

"MS SQL"

What do you like best?

Microsoft SQL has been a mainstay in data base query management for many years. It comes as no surprise that most companies with multiple systems will use Microsoft SQL to ease in searching, joining, table management and expect fast response times.

What do you dislike?

Microsoft SQL Enterprise pricing has grown steadily over the years along with the processing power needed to run all of the different applications it supports.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you do not have a qualified Microsoft SQL Expert on your team, its well worth the additional expense to utilize a 3rd party or even Microsoft Professional services to assist in the setup of the database plus all of the connectors, monitors, tasks, etc.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use SQL in finance, HR and Production. We would not be able to function as a company without Microsoft SQL as all of the connectors, login credentials and user interfaces would easily be supported by an alternative means.
