**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (Formerly CNTK)?**

An amazing tool for the machine learning. With help from Github tutorials we can easily setup the Cognitive tool on any of the windows or Linux machines. Being a .NET developer working with Cognitive toolkit is very easy as it supports c#. When we started using this toolkit, we have deployed this on Ubuntu machine and did the POC

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (Formerly CNTK)?**

No major flaws found with this toolkit may be because we did not find any other alternative. But one thing we noticed was the core api's are created in c++, few times it would be difficult to debug the application in Python.
Microsoft is working hard to create wrappers but a time consuming process.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (Formerly CNTK):**

Using Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit you can bring the power of Machine Learning to your application very easily. With support of Python and C# you can easily integrate the API's and mine the data you need. A powerful tool that can be easily configured and installed on any of the Windows or Linux machines. The toolkit is used in all kinds of deep learning, including image, video, speech, and text data. Several blogs and video tutorials are now available for the developers to easily understand the start using it.

**What do you like best about Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (Formerly CNTK)?**

Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit or CNTK is the best toolkit available for python for image recognition. Also it can be used with many other languages that you use.It gives you power to use the intelligence of very large datasets which helps you get the variety of data. Also it give you commercial-grade quality and support as stated on its website. You can get very good accuracy and that also with less time while training on its gpu which reduces your cpu usage. It also has many other features which you can check it out on the CNTK website.Support document is also good.It has everything stated which can be understood very easily right from installation to creating your own classifier and everything in between. It is a good API and must try once.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (Formerly CNTK)?**

I have nothing to dislike about Microsoft's CNTK.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (Formerly CNTK):**

I recommend using CNTK if you want to use the pretrained and precoded Machine learning and deep learning classifiers for image recognition or any other use.Its algorithms are having very much good accuracy with great scalability power and performance. You should try using it for integrating ML algorithms to your product.I recommend it to very much to use it for developing ML and DL classifiers.

**What problems is Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (Formerly CNTK) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using Microsoft CNTK since 2 years and have created various classifier models according to my usage by using either their dataset or my own.I have also used their pretrained classifiers when the product required general usage like character recognition or so.It is very easy to use and while using it with python its just very easy to develop such classifiers.

  ### 19. Best Toolkit To use pretrained and custom trained ML models

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Siddarth K. | Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2018

**What do you like best about Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (Formerly CNTK)?**

Microsoft cognitive toolkit or CNTK is basically API which is available for python and other platforms. It is very easy to install and initialize the library and naive person who is used to python can easily do that.It has many great features like you can use the pretrained model for cancer classification using logistic regression. You just have to pass the test data to the model and you will get the results. Also you can change the weights for the algorithm if you wish to do so.
Now regarding training your own model.Suppose if you wish to train your custom logistic regression classifier than you can use your own data set.Create your own test data using cross_validation function of the api and train the data.It is so simple and it can be very useful for training custom models.
Summing up CNTK is the library that any ML engineer can dream of because it has so many pretrained models like MNIST dataset which reduces the efforts.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (Formerly CNTK)?**

I have nothing to dislike about CNTK because it is providing so much functionality and also it is opensource.

**Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (Formerly CNTK):**

I would recommend using CNTK to you if you are a Machine learning or deep learning engineer and have to develop basic models everytime by yourself. In such scenarios the CNTK can serve the purpose and help you design the models or use the pretrained models according to your requirement and thus reducing the workload. All you have to do is pip install the library for python and buckle up to use the models.

**What problems is Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (Formerly CNTK) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use CNTK or Microsoft cognitive toolkit for using pretrained models and sometime train models of my own.I have used the MNIST model with Multilayer Perceptron which is already trained on CNTK to create a Optical Character Recognition.I have also tried Logistic regression for MNIST model but the previous one served better.I have also tried image recognition with deep transfer learning which again is the pretrained model of CNTK.
