Been installing this since the late 2000 and for the IT guy, it's a breath of fresh air compared to the headaches that Exchange gives. Rarely gives trouble, and problems are mostly easy to diagnose. Much more flexible than Exchange, and will work with any standard SMTP account. Includes as standard many features that are expensive add-ons for Exchange.

Settings and data are in files rather than a database, which makes for greater transparency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The file based storage means that large mailbox access does get a mite slow on mechanical disks. No problem with a couple of enterprise grade SSDs though.

Integration with Outlook is less complete than with Exchange, and won't always satisfy the Microsoft-worshippers who expect all of the more obscure features to be there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Incredibly easy to setup, with a multitude of configurable settings. If you cannot get MDaemon to do something, it's because you did not configure it properly, it's not because Mdaemon cannot do it.

I dislike the fact that Windows needs to constantly install updates. If it wasn't for Windows updates that needs to restart my server, I would probably forget to ever restart my mail server. MDaemon simply keeps working, always. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The full functionality of mDaemon is its best feature. We haven't found any limitations on email functionality and we have lived through a lot of changes in security processing over the past decade. While none of our users relies on the webclient for normal use everyone agrees that it is an excellent back up interface to their main mail clients.

The Spam filtering capability in particular has proved to be very accurate. We migrate compromises dead accounts to be treated as honeypots and this has proven to be very effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The interface is still a bit cryptic and finding lower use feature to use like the alias file is a pain. Some features are just hard to find. So while its great that they are there, the user interface doesn't always make them easy to find. The Help documentation is not as helpful as it could/should be with respect to this. Some of the better features can be administration intensive and not user friendly (for example a user struggling with username/password issues being incorrectly flagged for dynamic screening). We have used several mail applications like Exchage, Zimbra, direct from hosting. We were facing a lot issues regarding Multipop. MDaemon has cover our maximum requirements and minimize our day to day issues.

We have problems with Backing up our users emails, which were almost a headach, MDaemon has also helpful for for that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love the structure of the GUI and the way the various features are grouped, making administration that much more easier. The mail flow logging through each check is also very helpfull in tracing deliverability.

The best part of Mdaemon I feel is the simplicity and ease when either moving the installation to another physical machine or upgrading the exisiting installation, no other mail solution comes even close. Mdaemons Webmail is also the most advance and best I have used in the 18 years that i have been in the ISP sector, its your entire mail solution online, accessible from anywhere. Webadmin is also great for remote administration for support staff, without having to access the actual app on the server. The Outlook connector DB stability and performance is a bit annoying at times and requires constant maintenance once the file size grows. The Live Log viewing and flow via the APP GUI needs to be more manageable, currently you can only print / search the live log, there either needs to be a filter option where your can eitehr filter logs via sender / reciepient / failure etc. or even a terminal option like linux has where you can grep the live log for specific entries. Mdaemon is relatively cheap and easy to manage. If you want a basic email program then this will work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Calendar and folder sharing isn't as easy as MS Outlook. You also can't open some of the Outlook calendar invites. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

MDaemon Email Server is a robust email server but still very easy to configure and use. It offers all features and is regularly updated for new functions and technologies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Hard to say, we know very well this product and have no problems with administration or usage. There have been some issues with active sync and SSL certificates, but with the latest versions this is solved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
