"EASY TO SETUP AND SUITABLE FOR BOTH SMALL AND BIG BUSINESSES"
4.5/5
What do you like best about MDaemon Email Server?

The server is easy to setup and also its features are awesome. The best part being the Antivirus feature and the Dmarc. Its user interface is friendly and easy to learn and configure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MDaemon Email Server?

Nothing do dislike here. Only that for an administrator who doesn't know what to configure... It might take ages to finish up configurations as each setting is on its own tab Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emma Washington of MDaemon Email Server

Thank you for your feedback Thomas, I am very happy to hear that you've experienced ease of use and "awesome" features :)

"MDaemon user since past 20+ years"
4.5/5
What do you like best about MDaemon Email Server?

Deployed on-premise. Works fine even if there is NO internet connectivity (During down times of IPLC connectivity). Easy UI experience (bother for Administrator and user). Responsive web interface. Quick to restore (thanks to the auto-backup process of essential config files). Security is a top with multiple AV engines of global repute plus out-break preventive push updates from MDaemon. Unified messaging client for organizations is a plus. Swift and simple integration with Microsoft AD is fantastic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MDaemon Email Server?

Sometimes, the User Interface loading time is longer, even over LAN. MD cloud option is a bit costly for 3rd world countries. Usage statistics reports can be better. Detailed logging (debug level) makes the overall performance very slow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emma Washington of MDaemon Email Server

Hi Asif, thank you for sharing both what you enjoy about MDaemon Email, as well as what we can work to improve!

"On-premise MDaemon VS. On-Premise Exchange: ready to replace Microsoft before 2025? Please say yes!"
5/5
What do you like best about MDaemon Email Server?

1) Logging. We've been using MDaemon since the 90s to diagnose delivery issues with Exchange because everything is beautifully transparent.

2) Security: native support for Geo-IP blocking, automated dynamic blacklisting, the ability to temporarily ban IPs based on excessive authentication failures, deeply granular control of security features... an endless wish-list of well-thought-out features that will make any Exchange admin weep. Truly some of the best security we've ever seen, hands down.

3) Much easier to administer than Exchange - especially certificate management.

4) Stable and robust: we've never seen MDaemon fail completely or corrupt the data as we've seen time and time again with Exchange. We attribute this to the data being stored as individual .msg files in a simple file system instead of an easily corrupted database. You would think having 10s of thousands of files in a single folder would cause MDaemon to choke, and we have seen some performance issues, but so far nothing deal-breaking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MDaemon Email Server?

1) Missing feature: Exchange provides a synchronization mechanism for e-mail address autofill lists in Outlook. Mdaemon does not as of version 21.0.2.1 (our current installed version) even when using the MDaemon Outlook connector. We hope Alt-N will address this oversight before Microsoft kills on-prem Exchange in 2025 so we can migrate clients to MDaemon without getting client complaints. This is the only feature missing for us to move forward.

2) Very rare but persistent bug: every few months we see an instance of an email sent using the MDaemon Connector where either the email contains strange corrupt characters or the body of the email is blank. We've brought this to the attention of support but so far the problem remains.

3) The MDaemon Connector is VERY intolerant of bad connectivity and tends to freeze Outlook when the internet connection is spotty.

4) As mentioned in point 4 in the positive section, there is room for improvement in the performance department. It could be addressed by limiting mail items stored in a folder to less than 9999 items and automatically storing addtitional items in a folder tree. Inbox.0001, Inbox.0002, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The most versatile of email managers."
4.5/5
What do you like best about MDaemon Email Server?

It is a very organized system in terms of software usability and contains options that in other systems do not exist or are very difficult to configure. I have used it for almost 20 years. It has rules for almost everything you may need in emails and the complementary SecurityGateway system makes this an ideal solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MDaemon Email Server?

Its onpremise version can only be installed on Windows systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emma Washington of MDaemon Email Server

"MDaemon vs Exchange vs CommuniGate Pro"
5/5
What do you like best about MDaemon Email Server?

MDaemon eMail Server was very easy to install and configure. The Outlook connetor was also very easy to install and configure. The price point is excellent compared to the alternatives (Exchange and CommuniGate Pro). Exchange accounts can be migrated to MDaemon eMail Server. The look is clean and easy to navigate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MDaemon Email Server?

While there is a migration tool for Exchange to MDaemon I would like to have the ability to import other formats (i. e. .pst files and .mbox format) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emma Washington of MDaemon Email Server

Thanks for sharing Robert, we'll continue to work to make MDaemon Email even better!

What do you like best about MDaemon Email Server?

I have been using MDaemon for over 20 years, and it has never failed me.

MDaemon also has everything my customers need as an on-premise email server service.

I love the way I can see what has happened with the easy-to-understand logs. Whatever is happening on our mail server, I can see who did what and fix it.

"Satisfied user for the last 20 years"
5/5
What do you like best about MDaemon Email Server?

It is an inexpensive solution. Also, the FREE email tech support is excellent. Tech support is excellent. The technician explained how to troubleshoot issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MDaemon Email Server?

Outlook can't automatically access the other user's email addresses. It requires a separate program which is not free. The web email doesn't have a professional look; however, it functions just fine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emma Washington of MDaemon Email Server

Thank you for your comments, especially about our support team! Regarding your comment about Outlook - depending on the Outlook features you're using, the separate MDaemon Connector for Outlook is NOT required! I am happy to help you configure if you like, just email me at emma.washington@mdaemon.com.
