## LMMS Reviews
  ### 1. Free DJ Fun!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2021

**What do you like best about LMMS?**

LMMS is free and open-source, which immediately makes it one of the most accessible DAWs out there for making music.

**What do you dislike about LMMS?**

Without attaching a midi keyboard or other controllers, it can be quite time-consuming and a bit clunky to put in notation with a trackpad. It also takes a little while to get used to how things work.

**What problems is LMMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If you're wanting to make electronic music on a budget, this is a great place to start. You may realize you want something more eventually, but this is certainly adequate for beginners.

  ### 2. LMMS Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about LMMS?**

LMMS is a free software to create and edit music. It provides many different virtual instruments for the user to use to create songs. There are many different effects to use to edit as well.

**What do you dislike about LMMS?**

The user interface can be improved. But overall, I think it is a very good program since it is free and user will get used to it eventually.

**What problems is LMMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

LMMS allows me to create music at ease. It provides similar functionality compared with other paid music programs. So, this really saves the cost of production.

  ### 3. I'm new to producing

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about LMMS?**

I have tried out many frees programs online for beat making, LMMS was one that kept coming up in BLOGS online. I had tried several and happened upon LMMS because it looked a lot like beat making programs that usually cost a lot of money and require specific requirements. LMMS is on my laptop and I think there might be a mobile version. My favorite part is how many instruments there are available, as well as a keyboard and beat pad. We were able to record using this program, in my opinion it squares up with the best.

**What do you dislike about LMMS?**

I think there is still a lot of limitations in the software. I don't think there are many beats or instruments available in comparison to the more expensive software, but in terms of FREE, it is my favorite.

**Recommendations to others considering LMMS:**

This is for those who might not have access to more expensive programs.

**What problems is LMMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We do not have a lot of money for our business and this program is free. It has gotten the job done many times. The benefits are how easy it is to use and that it has a decent loop maker.

  ### 4. Easy tool for making music made easy.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luis T. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2019

**What do you like best about LMMS?**

It is very easy to use, the best, with an intuitive interface and I can use it in different operating systems.

**What do you dislike about LMMS?**

the community is not very broad, at least in people who share tutorials, it would be good to create a more complete creators hub

**Recommendations to others considering LMMS:**

lmms is a open source software, easy more easy for making music, the interface is beauty similar to fruty loops.

**What problems is LMMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being an open source software gives competitive advantages in the market and helps us who are starting.

  ### 5. Support is very flakey it does not work at all with my Phonic Firefly 302 Plus

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cedric H. | Owner, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about LMMS?**

The interface looks like Fruity Loops so it was easy to navigate. The layout was very familiar and easy to get used to with its universal transport controls and labeled buttons. Free is a great price but in this case, you truly get what you pay for. I paid nothing and got nothing. Maybe a future version will work for my interface? For now, I'm using the latest version of Logic Pro X.

**What do you dislike about LMMS?**

I just wish it worked with my iMac 2010 running macOS Sierra 10.12.2. It must have locked up my computer just about every time I tried to use it. At least 3 times. I didn't want keep hard restarting my mac to get this to work. It would not be worth having to repair my computer just to see if the software is any good. Not worth it.

**Recommendations to others considering LMMS:**

Make sure to research whether your audio interface and other midi hardware units are compatible with this product.

**What problems is LMMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was looking for a free alternative to Fruity Loops. No benefits realized because the software would freeze during setup and while recording/testing.

  ### 6. LMMS is a solid DAW (with a learning curve)

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert P. | Owner/Designer, Media Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2016

**What do you like best about LMMS?**

For Linux and Windows users, this is a pretty capable alternative to Fruity Loops Studio. It's also an open source software solution as well, so it's good for users who may be on a tight budget as well.

**What do you dislike about LMMS?**

It has a slightly difficult learning curve, mostly due to the user interface design. It's also kind of buggy when using the Windows version.

**Recommendations to others considering LMMS:**

My main suggestion would be to give yourself time to acclimate yourself to the user interface. There are tons of tutorials online to use for reference as well. It is a good alternative to FL Studio.

**What problems is LMMS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used it when I was temporarily using Linux as my main operating system.
