We use Klips to bring Employee Headcount, Turnover Rate, Retention Rate, Average Tenure, Absenteeism Rate, Time to Fill, Offer Acceptance Rate, and Training Completion Rate into a single HR dashboard. Not every metric is relevant in every meeting, but keeping them in a shared structure means the conversation no longer depends on someone rebuilding a presentation the night before. Klipfolio can pull data from cloud applications, spreadsheets, databases, files, and APIs, and each Klip can display a chart, table, indicator, or gauge. The formula logic feels familiar to anyone who has spent a lot of time in spreadsheets, while still giving us the flexibility to define metrics the way the business actually uses them. For turnover, for example, we exclude temporary contracts that ended as planned, and we track voluntary departures within the first ninety days as a separate category. That may sound like a minor adjustment, but the wrong definition can make one department look unstable when the underlying issue is simply seasonal staffing. Simple visual tweaks are straightforward: renaming a title or switching chart types doesn’t take much effort. The learning curve shows up once a dashboard starts combining multiple sources, working with arrays, using more complex formulas, and keeping filters consistent across every component. Someone who’s comfortable in Excel will recognize some of the underlying logic, but that doesn’t mean they’ll immediately understand how each Klip behaves, or how a single filter can ripple through several calculations. What I really like about Klipfolio is that it’s super easy to pick up, connects smoothly with lots of data sources, the dashboards get used all the time (daily or a few times a week), and if something breaks or you need help, the support, docs, and community jump in fast basically, you almost never feel stuck. I love the full range of capabilities that are possible when building a Klipfolio dashboard (specifically with their Klips product). Unlike the majority of BI platforms, building with Klipfolio feels more like designing a web page than configuring a single chart at a time. A single Klip can contain multiple graphs from different data sets, either displayed side by side or modeled together on the spot. Variables are straightforward and can be made independent of the data, which makes room for creative solutions to a wide variety of UI requirements. Then for the most custom experience, HTML and Javascript can be written directly into the Klips and utilize the same data sources as the out of the box components, powering even more creative solutions. The platform can run a little slow sometimes, particularly when performing complex actions. With Klips, data sources are always fully refreshed when loading up a dashboard, which can drag down the performance when working with multiple data sources at the same time. They offer some power-ups to help head this problem off, but I think pulling in some of the resources used in their power metrics product would move the needle forward.

Another small suggestion would be to carry over more features from the highcharts library into the base components. There are more chart types, tool tip functionalities, axis options, and dynamic labeling options in the most recent version of the same JS library that Klipfolio visualizations run on.
