The ease of starting automation with Katalon is amazing: during an internal course we were able to quickly make it work and have 10 users internally split worldwide script their first Web UI automated scenario with no technical issue or limitation like third party software install / library install / machine configuration...

The fact that a Docker image is provided for remote run with ease and all the capabilities which come with katalon Platform are great comapred to other tools: TestOps website to upload / centralize all tests results with screenshots and video records, visual testing simplified, etc...

Also Katalon does not stand idle and keeps innovating, bringing new features or product, and has both a very active and professional support in addition of a supportive forum community.

Last but not least Katalon still provides a free unlimited version of their studio, with less feature than paying version of course, but it's a clear advantage comapred to competition where often only full version 30 days trial are proposed which can be complicated for demo / training / PoC etc...

Perfect for Web UI clearly, whereas not so great for Desktop App test automation...

I guess all this hard work to make Katalon such a great tool comes with a price, explaining why license prices increased significantly over the years and are now close to competition. Yet it is somthing to keep in mind that Katalon is not as affordable as it used to be.

Allows us to hide selenium complexity and make test automation scripting very easy, close to no code but keeping some dev like abilities when needed.

Very easy to understand as compared to the other automation platforms out there. Has a wide array of options to choose from in terms to automation operations. Hardly had to look out for help guides in order to walk through my certification program. Was really a breeze!

None that I can point out. Had a great experience overall.

Helping me automate with just the UI and no-code approach, Katalon would be my go to tool going forward as a preferred choice.

One tool does it all! WebUI, API (SOAP/REST), Native, Mobile, parallel executions, multi-browser, Git interoperability, Eclipse IDE etc. Support is great too. I love that it supports all levels of users, from quick record/playback and keywords, to experienced developers that need everything. I've used Katalon every day for the past three years and it's head and shoulders over its competition... and I've been developing test automation for 33 years, so I know what I'm saying here!

Price and inability to have some users with the free license to start with, because we have paid license usage.

Test automation of (mostly) web applications. Having a tool that I can depend upon at the heart of our test automation framework makes my job as QA Automation Architect much easier.

I have not found the auto-heal functionality to be very useful. The beauty is that it can also be disabled.

I started my career as an automation Tester. Most organizations prefer to use Open-source test automation tools for their testing needs and to reduce the cost to the company and prefer to use selenium with Eclipse. I worked in the same for 3.5 years and when I joined my current organization they already implemented Katalon Studio in 2020 and Katalon Studio was a free tool for testing. My first hands-on experience at Katalon studio was exciting In Eclipse we used to write reusable methods and save them to be used for upcoming projects we need to maintain them in order to reuse them. katalon simplifies that by providing those Keywords that reduce our time and effort by 25% and for reporting we used to design our test scripts in a way to capture the application Snapshot on each step when there is a failure in test katalon in its project settings and added the feature to capture the snapshots of the failures to this reduced another 25% of our time and effort and we have Record and Object spy future and frame handling feature etc.. in Katalon studio this eliminates the half of our effort in maintaining and allows us to concentrate in designing effective test automation

We have an older Java based Customer service managaement and payments tool that we need to automate testing for. However so far we have been unable to use Katalon for this. We have to be searching for other applications to be used for this automated testing.

It would be so great if Katalon would also support legacy Java User interface testing.
