I like the fact that, while scripting is certainly possible (and encouraged!), you can really hit the ground running with some exceptionally advanced analytical approaches without having an advanced knowledge of writing scripts and codes. JMP is NOT Excel, so it's not so much a matter of disliking JMP as it is learning what sorts of things spreadsheets are good for and when to switch over to JMP. Despite being incredibly JMP-savvy, there are STILL some things that are just faster and easier in Excel, though I imagine this will not be the case for much longer. Recommendations to others considering JMP: JMP has truly revolutionized how I do research, and I use it as a one-stop shop: data collection and curation, distributions, t-tests and ANOVAs, experimental design, multivariate statistics, figure-making, machine-learning, predictive modeling, and other platforms. I am a coral reef researcher using the power of JMP to answer critical questions about the fates, longevity, and resilience of these emperiled, high-biodiversity ecosytems. It compares to SAS, since it is a SAS product, in that I think it is user friendly and has a good support community of users and a professional certification program.
