## gandi.net Reviews
  ### 1. User-Friendly Control Panel with Helpful Renewal Reminders

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon W. | Founder and CEO, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

The usability of their control panel, being able to share permissions for domains to another user, and their reminder emails be 60, 30, 14 and 1 day before renewal.

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

Email used to be free, but then they started charging for it, and it ended up becoming expensive.

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has managed most of my clients’ domain names for about 10 years now.

  ### 2. Simple and hassle free place to get domain names from

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2024

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

I've used Gandi for years, purchase has been always easy and setting up domains for e.g. Gmail, websites etc. has been easy.

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

Haven't found out any downsides, maybe their own email client is not the best (or at least wasn't when I tried some years ago) but I use my own anyway so it doesn't really matter.

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's letting me purchase domains with ease

  ### 3. Scammed out of our money

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Guillaume G. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2021

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

We thought it was interesting that Gandi.net offered more domains than other platforms. It turned out that they were selling domain names that were already owned by other users.

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

We purchased a domain that was showcased as available. Turned out is was already owned by another client. Gandi.net still took our money. We did not receive the product (the domain). We asked for a refund a few minutes after realizing we were scammed. They did not want to refund us. Our experience with them is beyond negative. They have put a mechanism in place to scam people out of their money.

**Recommendations to others considering gandi.net:**

We do not recommend this service. Stick with established domain name registries.

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We did not receive any product (a .io domain name) we purchased from them. We contacted them for a refund, the company gandi.net sticks to a prewritten text that mentions they do not offer refunds.

  ### 4. Very Good Domain Registrar

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mukesh S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2019

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

I like the best thing about gandi they offer clean and easy process to register domain name.
They offer whois privacy protection to hide personal data so I am not receiving any spam emails like I used to get earlier.
The pricing is also good compared to the domain industry pricing.
Domain management feature is easy to mange domain settings like nameserver.

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

I have found nothing to dislike here easy to use UI and helpful support.

**Recommendations to others considering gandi.net:**

Another great domain registrar with simple UI to mange domains so recommended for people who need domains.
Pricing is also good compared to the other registrars. I am happy here so recommend it.

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have purchased domain from gandi and no problems at all.
Easy to purchase and manage my domain from dashboard.

  ### 5. Simple and Easy. Best Domain Host.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Reign X. | MGM, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2018

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

I love how they offer you all of the different features including sub domains without limits on how many you can use. compared to places like go Daddy and google domains, and dont charge you for add ons. Very simple interface.

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

I Wish they allowed you to have more emails, and that they offered a website hosting/builder, besides that, nothing else. I love using them as a every day part of buisness...

**Recommendations to others considering gandi.net:**

Make sure you checkout all features before you start anything to make sure that you know this is right for you.

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making domain registration and hosting easier by simplifying it into one platform, where as other platforms like Gandi, they do not offer the same things. Gandi's Suite is making things a lot easier for me to run my company.

  ### 6. An Average Registrar

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Will W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2018

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

The main reason I chose Gandi is that of the TLDs offered by them. there are many website Registrars out there but none of them offered such wide range of TLD's to select From, I actually Moved By Domain and Gandi only because of this. another great feature about Gandi is their Security Features, it's so clear that Gandi concerns about their user privacy and credibility that you never use an account or domain from using Gandi. they provide free SSL and WHOIS privacy with Domain Registration which is really helpful.

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

The price, Now coming to the worst of gandi, their Pricing is just too high that it can be a burden for the average user. they do not offer many discounts either which makes the case really bad and there is no offer even on bulk purchases. another problem with Gandi is accessing the account from a Mobile Device, they got no such thing as a mobile app and it's hard to navigate through their complex user interface with a mobile phone. they do not have so called customer support and it used to take days to get a reply for the querirs.

**Recommendations to others considering gandi.net:**

their security is of superior quality but if you're looking for a cheap registrar keep looking.

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Domain Registration

  ### 7. Website hosting no bs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karen E. | Direct Care, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2018

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

They work by word of mouth so customer service is priority to them. Making customers the priority

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

Billing can be confusing
And they are international so you have to pay extra fees
And there is often an issue

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing domains with out the need for signing up for in needed extra

  ### 8. Domain Registration and Cert Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roman U. | Internal Technical Project Manager, Human Resources, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2018

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

Easy management of domains and SSL certs

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

Switch version 5 has been lousy. Functionality stinks. Glad I still have the URL for version 4.

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Domain Registration and Cert Tool

  ### 9. Gandi review from Marketer

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2018

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

Gandi is very easy to use, user friendly and has good prices.

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

I wish that they offered more support, sometimes that is lacking.

**Recommendations to others considering gandi.net:**

Great prices and good hosting, they are a good option for your website needs

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting and domain registration for various clients

  ### 10. Rock-solid service, but confusing interface and billing

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh H. | Social Media Specialist, Government Administration, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2016

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

If there's one truly fabulous thing I can say about Gandi, it's that I have had absolutely zero issues with the actual stability and performance of the service since I switched my domains to it several years ago. I've never once worried about an error or an outage. Everything works exactly like it should.

It's nice to use a domain registrar that doesn't try to shove extras and add-ons down your throat, and doesn't try to use sleazy marketing techniques to get business.

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

Unfortunately, Gandi's user experience really does not match up to its fantastic performance. The administration interface is quite confusing and cluttered, and it's often hard to find what you want. While all the features are there if you look hard enough, some of them are buried pretty deep.

The account system feels very archaic. When you sign up for a Gandi account, you can't pick your username, you are assigned an alphanumeric "handle" that you must use to log in. I can never remember it, so I always have to go digging to find it when I need to log in to manage my account.

Billing is a confusing process involving prepaid accounts and reloading funds from bank accounts, and because they're an international company, you'll pay fees associated with that if you're based in the US. Pretty much every year around renewal time I've had some sort of odd difficulty with billing, causing me to fly into a panic thinking my domain might get cut off. On top of all that, Gandi is more pricey than competitors with no sign of reducing costs.

I moved to Gandi on the recommendation of a friend, but I would likely move off of it if not for the hassle of domain transfer.

**Recommendations to others considering gandi.net:**

If you need reliable service that will never go down and don't mind dealing with some painful interactions to get that service, Gandi is a good choice.

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gandi is a fantastic service that gets the job done, and that's saying something in a world when many services are unreliable with lots of downtime. It's just unfortunate their management interface and billing is so poor.

  ### 11. Professional domain management and fair prices

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eneko I. | Web Consultant & Developer, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2016

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

We have been working with Gandi for ten years and we have always recommended it to our clients. We can provide our clients with full ownership of their domains but still be able to fully manage the domains as "technical contacts". You can manage everything cleanly and transparently with Gandi: you have full control over all aspects of your domains.

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

If I would have to complain about something it will be the documentation: not that you need it a lot, specially if you deal mostly with domains and not hosting, but it could be improved.

**Recommendations to others considering gandi.net:**

If you are managing domains for third persons, keep domain ownership in your clients hands: the fact that Gandi allows you to set technical or administrative contacts for the domains makes this easy. You can be the technical contact for your client's domains, and then make the necessary configuration changes to the domains.

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing domains at the lowest level, without having to sign up for extra products in not so evident with other providers (GoDaddy, for example). What seems cheap when you buy a domain can become expensive once you start with the add-ons.

Gandi gives you full control of your domains, and makes it very easy to decouple domain management from web hosting or even mailing. Prices are fair and competitive, and they don't try to seem cheap and then catch you with expensive add-ons.

The fact that Ownership, Billing and Technical management can be linked to different users/account makes the whole process more transparent too.

  ### 12. Right platform for manage your domain

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2016

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

The UI is simple and easy to understand. I can manage my domain with a small cost. Gandi offers classic website hosting and VPS Cloud Hosting. If you manage transaction or sensible data Gandi offers SSL Certificates too.

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

They should build an iOS app to manage the domain from the smartphone.

**Recommendations to others considering gandi.net:**

If you need to manage your domain name with flexibility this is the right software.

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can handle my domain, link it with my hosting and configure up to 5 email account.

  ### 13. Recommended Domain name registrars for .io domains

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deepak G. | Software Development Engineer 2, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2016

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

I needed a .io domain for my name and found out that "deepak.io" is available. So I compared the rates for .io domains with different registrars. My two requisites were:
a. Register with a well know domain name provider
b. It should be cheap cost wise
However a lot of popular domain name providers hadn't gotten into .io domains 2 years before and there were limited options. I looked into them and compared their prices and service and chose gandi.net.
I have been using it for two years and have been very happy with the service. Any changes in domain configurations is reflected quickly and name resolution has been fast.
P.S: I recently brought my website http://deepak.io down for a major revamp

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

Certain things which Gandi.net can improve upon is:
a. Improve the User Experience: Editing and updating the configuration could have been better. Particularly if you could provide short description for the different config parameters, it helps a lot and even a non techie can use it easily.
b. Price: The price is good compared to most registrars but its not the cheapest. There are definitely some cheaper options but probably not as renown as Gandi.net .

**Recommendations to others considering gandi.net:**

a. Recommended for .io domains

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solving the Domain registration problem.
a. The service is good: Changes in domain configurations are reflected across dns servers very fast
b. Not expensive: Compared to other good .io domain providers, their price is pretty good
c. Payment methods: They accept major credit cards, paypal, bank transfer and bitcoins. So if you want to keep your registration anonymous then you can pay through cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
d. 1 year free ssl certificate: I didn't avail this freebie but one of my friends had used and was happy with it

  ### 14. I have been using Gandi for five years until I had a major problem

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2016

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

User interface is clean and easy to use, probably one of the best I know.
DNS management is easy to use even for non technical users. Their reselling system works, and give you a business opportunity.
They give you a broad number of services, and discounts based on volume, for a reseller it's a good choice as your clients won't have the same prices as you.

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

Don't have enough tools to manage your systems properly.
Prices are not competitive unless you are on the E rates. You can find many other service providers with a better relationship between money and quality.
Their users support won't help out of office hours even in a crisis moment.
Their policies are not transparent enough.

**Recommendations to others considering gandi.net:**

Before start working with them have a reasonable backup system to switch it in case something fails. If it happens on weekends, they won't help.
They will shutdown your VPS without any consideration or previous advise, only by the request of a third party.
Their systems works smoothly, without big technical issues.

Before start, do the maths, as they have a nice volume discount policy, if your are on the edge of a rate, try to buy another domain to get the discount.
Think twice and compare with other ISP.

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Domain name registration, as a reseller, we have a big bunch of them, so we have to look for a confident register. We have been using their VPS systems since beta until we had problems.

  ### 15. Gandi for unique domain extensions

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2016

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

The price that Gandi offers on the more unique domain extensions have been among the most reasonable that I've found, and they periodically have really good promotions.

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

The UI and management features of the dashboard could be easier to use/updated.

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Domain management of different extensions.

  ### 16. Cheap domains and easy to set up

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2016

**What do you like best about gandi.net?**

Cheap and very competitive prices, and an easy to use control panel to set things up

**What do you dislike about gandi.net?**

Not the greatest choice of TLDs and some (unusual) ones can be quite expensive.

**Recommendations to others considering gandi.net:**

Shop around for domains. Gandi are quick and the control panel is great, but so too are others, and depending on what domain you're after, they aren't always the cheapest. Never had a problem though, and cost isn't everything!

**What problems is gandi.net solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickly buy domains that are only available from certain registrars (e.g. MX) at competitive prices.
