What do you like best about Expensify?

The automated receipt scanning is incredibly efficient; it reads data accurately and saves a lot of time. It lacks an option to save "favorite" or frequent categories and merchants. What do you like best about Expensify?

It's very easy to use for expense reporting. I just email receipts or PDF invoices to receipts@expensify.com and it extracts all the information into an expense. We have custom GL codes and tags setup to align with our internal accounting practices. Submitting the reports is easy and very organized. It packages everything together including images of all the receipts into a PDF that gets sent to my accounting department. I currently use the individual free version but will use the paid version when I am travelling and have many receipts for the month. I find this to be very reasonable. What do you like best about Expensify?

I like using Expensify for employee reimbursement of valid business expenses, especially for employees who don't have a corporate credit card. It helps collect information from employees, including receipt copies and expenditure details, and coordinates the workflow for approval and direct deposit ACH reimbursement. The integration with our accounting software, Sage Intacct, is valuable because it helps streamline the expense entry and automates it, so we don't have to replicate data in Sage; everything flows from Expensify into the proper categories and time periods. I think Expensify is a really great tool and, from an employee perspective, the app and user experience is fantastic! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Expensify?

Unfortunately, they did a big update in January 2026 that's still difficult to get used to for interfacing as an admin. The old views were much easier to navigate. We've also noticed a timing difference of when the integration from Expensify to Sage happens, and we have to initiate the payment of the expense report for the expenses to move into the accounting system, but I think that may be more of a setup issue we have rather than a problem with Expensify itself. Also, while Expensify is a great tool, it feels very pricey for what they offer and not always a competitive solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Expensify?

I've been using Expensify for about 18 months now, primarily for tracking client-related travel, meals, mileage, and miscellaneous business expenses. What do you dislike about Expensify?

Pricing can add up quickly: While the Collect plan starts around $5 per member/month, moving to the full Control features or scaling a team pushes costs higher (especially without committing to their corporate card for discounts). For very small teams or occasional use, it sometimes feels pricey compared to simpler alternatives.

Occasional glitches and sync issues: Credit card syncing isn't always perfect—I've run into duplicate transactions or delays that require manual cleanup. What do you like best about Expensify?

I like Expensify for its ease of use and great user experience. The automatic scan feature stands out because it captures all necessary information from a receipt, like who the vendor is, the amount, and menu items, which helps align with our policy. The fact that Expensify can automatically pick up details from just scanning the receipt is amazing. Once receipts are scanned, they are saved on Expensify, allowing for easy report generation and reducing the workload for both me and the employees. Expensify automating everything saves a lot of time. Plus, the team at Expensify is very cooperative, and their YouTube tutorials are very helpful. The pricing of the module is slightly higher than other competitors such as Zoho Expenses. But the user experience is far better. What do you like best about Expensify?

We were struggling with getting the right help for our needs with our account. I was brand new to the tool and didn't quite understand what I was working with. My account rep at the time didn't have the knowledge to assist me, so it fell stagnant. When I left a review here on G2, I was followed up with and prompted to meet with a new account manager. The meeting went SO well and I feel so much more confident with Expensify. And I had all my integration questions answered after months of trying. I've learned that if your account rep isn't working out for you, you CAN request a new person. The knowledge base I needed for my account wasn't in line with my account rep at the time, so it would've been handy to know that I can request a new one. What do you like best about Expensify?

The pricing was competitive compared to other expense management platforms we evaluated, and the team was consistently responsive when issues were raised. Unfortunately, responsiveness did not translate into resolution, but I did appreciate that our account manger and sales team were engaged through the process. What do you dislike about Expensify?

We purchased Expensify to help manage corporate card expenses across our organization. Unfortunately, after five months, we were never able to get the platform working reliably enough to use it for our reporting process.

The biggest issues were card connections that repeatedly disconnected, reporting workflows that created individual reports for transactions instead of consolidated reports, and missing transactions that appeared sporadically across different cards. These weren't one-time issues—they persisted through multiple months and multiple rounds of troubleshooting.

Support was also disappointing. Most interactions resulted in another ticket being submitted, while their sales team continued encouraging us to connect additional accounts despite the ongoing problems. We frequently found ourselves troubleshooting the platform rather than actually using it.

After months of unresolved issues, we decided to cancel the service. We were encouraged to continue testing the platform and offered additional trial periods while the issues were investigated. However, when we ultimately moved forward with cancellation, we discovered we were locked into a 12-month commitment and would be required to continue paying despite the fact that the service had never functioned reliably for our needs.

Software issues happen, and I understand that no platform is perfect. My frustration comes from spending five months trying to make the product work, never reaching a usable solution, and still being obligated to pay for the remainder of the contract.

I genuinely wanted Expensify to succeed for our organization, but our experience was defined by unresolved technical issues, ineffective support, and a disappointing cancellation process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Expensify?

Expensify is built for speed and simplicity. SmartScan is the biggest win. Snap a receipt and it pulls in the details accurately enough that you trust it and keep using it. The mobile app is intuitive, submitting reports takes minutes, and there is almost no learning curve. It removes the friction that usually comes with expense reporting. There are occasional edge cases where SmartScan needs a quick manual fix, especially with less standard receipts. Reporting and customization can feel a bit limited if you are trying to do more complex finance workflows. What do you like best about Expensify?

I really appreciate the ease of use with Expensify. It makes managing my receipts much easier compared to snapping pictures and emailing them around to different people. Everything gets submitted in one app; I just snap a picture, and it sends the information to the right person. This process is smooth and efficient, and the ability to handle everything within the app helps keep my workflow uninterrupted. It's handy that I can quickly open the app on my phone, snap a receipt, and have it handled instantly, improving my workflow significantly. Additionally, I like that the app gives me reminders if I forget to submit a receipt, which has helped improve our whole accounting process. Switching to Expensify has made getting things done much faster for both me and our accounting department. Initially, setting it up was straightforward, and the tutorials made learning the system quite simple. Overall, the app has really helped streamline our expense tracking, and I'm happy with it.
