  ### 3. The is most satisfying to manage and deploy the apps.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica L. | Italian Language Instructor/ Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Engine Yard?**

I like the Engine Yard system because by this we can manage our apps by this system within a short time and also by this software we can deploy the apps. I choose Engine Yard because it removes the concern from our Ruby on Rails IT support environment. It also provides support to AWS services which is very beneficial for our IT workflow.

**What do you dislike about Engine Yard?**

Engine Yard cloud-based system is best for the apps management and deploying, but it needs high bandwidth connection and also its interface is too old and is very bad. I dislike this system due to that the Troubleshooting and configuration process is very awkward and confusing. Some common things or options can be hidden on the dashboard due to high traffic.

**What problems is Engine Yard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Engine Yard system is cloud-based and this system is too fast and easy to manage all apps. If we need any help, then we can get help from the support section in no time. We can install the PHP and Node.js environments in any other language easily on it that we want for our app.

  ### 4. An unimaginable product that helps in creating applications.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Micheal C. | Internal Communications Executive, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2020

**What do you like best about Engine Yard?**

Engine Yard is a fine software and has helped our organization in various ways. We used this product and it helped us in creating an application with much ease. Now my team and I are fully dependants on Engine Yard’s team in order to make our application platform up and its team is so supportive and we never felt alone in this as they are always there to help us and because of it we have seen how glad our customers are now .it also provided support of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and given us a wonderful experience.

**What do you dislike about Engine Yard?**

There is no such point to dislike as we loved using it but all that bothered us is its high price as compared to its rivals. Because of its price we found it unaffordable. We think they should decrease their price.

**What problems is Engine Yard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Engine Yard is a good product for all companies like ours. It helped us in creating an application with much ease and we have found its expert team so valuable and always behind our back. It also provided us the support of Amazon Web Service and thus this made it more efficient. All we don’t like about it is just its high price which makes it a little unaffordable.

**What problems is Engine Yard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 6. Fantastic product and technical support, frustrating dealing with their "success managers"

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg Matthew C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Engine Yard?**

Their product and support is excellent for companies without devops experience.

**What do you dislike about Engine Yard?**

They promised me that I could stay on a grandfathered plan, but then changed their mind and are trying to force me onto a newer plan that is 300% more expensive.

They also suggested I could bring my own Amazon EC2 credentials and realize some savings by reserving Amazon instances. Then after a month of dithering and non-response, they told me they don't want to offer that feature anymore. Still haven't received a decision from them after a month an a half. Very frustrating.

**Recommendations to others considering Engine Yard:**

Get your terms of service in writing (especially the fees and contract length). They've made promises to me on the phone that they later reneged on.

**What problems is Engine Yard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Engine Yard lets us focus on building our app, and leaves the DevOps worries to their platform.

  ### 7. Essential Service for the SMB

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Engine Yard?**

Engine Yard takes the worry out of our Ruby on Rails IT support environment. We rely on their expert team to keep our app platform up and running and our customers happy and productive.

**What do you dislike about Engine Yard?**

There is nothing that we can say negatively about our experience with the service.

**What problems is Engine Yard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a small, startup and need to focus our resources on driving our business, not supporting infrastructure. Engine Yard allows us to focus on our core.

  ### 8. Solid offering for cloud hosting management solutions

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Engine Yard?**

The deployment tools were best of breed when they first arrived, and they continue to have a very solid offering especially with providing support to AWS services.

**What do you dislike about Engine Yard?**

There isn't much to dislike about this service, however there are a number of options in this space now.

**Recommendations to others considering Engine Yard:**

Shop around as there are many providers in this space now, but Engine Yard continues to have a very solid offering.

**What problems is Engine Yard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They were fantastic at helping us get our application to market, and helping us to solve many load, scaling and general teething problems with hosting a technology that was new to us at the time.

  ### 9. Rails deployment trade off of ease-of-use for affordability

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan B. | Senior Software Engineer III, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Engine Yard?**

Very dependable rails deployment and hosting with more affordable pricing compared to the competition (heroku, rackspace etc)

**What do you dislike about Engine Yard?**

Troubleshooting and configuration can be confusing and awkward. Their dashboard has lots of options, and is even a bit busy with features, however some common things are hidden and unintuitive (like settings environment variables)

**Recommendations to others considering Engine Yard:**

Be prepared for searching documentation and contacting customer support if you have any non-standard, or custom apps you need to deploy

**What problems is Engine Yard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting lower trafficked sites for internal tools, etc.

  ### 10. Industrial Grade and Expensive Ruby on Rails hosting

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jared T. | Solutions Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2012

**What do you like best about Engine Yard?**

They know Ruby on Rails hosting better than anyone, has serious support and knowledge.

**What do you dislike about Engine Yard?**

Expensive - not really for a startup using Ruby on Rails. They give you free hours to start but price jumps after that. If you are cost conscious this is not the place to start.

**Recommendations to others considering Engine Yard:**

Serious rails hosting for only serious businesses. Entry level price point is too high for most users.
