Although many people don't realize it, email addresses are considered sensitive and highly confidential data, similar to phone numbers and credit card numbers. You would expect e-maillist verify to treat your data confidentially, but the opposite is true. Yes, they claim to be GDPR compliant on their website, but that seems to be just marketing. I have concrete evidence that they don't care enough. The concerning part is that if email addresses are their core business, they should prioritize data protection. It's like a police officer who disregards traffic rules by driving through red lights, which is exactly what they do by mishandling sensitive data. Here's an example: I uploaded a list of 4,000 email addresses to their tool. A few weeks later, when I signed in again, I noticed that my cleaned list was still there. This was disappointing because I expected them to remove the data as soon as the job was completed (cleaned and downloaded). I contacted their support about this issue, and they mentioned that they retain your data for 90 days for "usability reasons." So apparently, usability is considered more important than the sensitivity of your data. The support representative directed me to delete my data myself, which I did immediately. However, you can never be certain if they truly delete your data or if they only perform a soft delete. To test this, the next day I contacted another employee and asked, "I accidentally deleted a list. Is it possible to recover it?" The response I received was shocking: "Okay, let's see, one moment. These are all the results: result-all-xxxxxxxxx.csv." They simply shared my 'deleted' list in the chat! Moreover, the chat itself is hosted by a third-party, which means that this third-party chat tool now also has access to my sensitive data. This is absolutely unacceptable. I understand that not everyone is aware of these issues like I am, as I have worked extensively on GDPR compliance. People, please take greater care with your data. You don't want your customers' email addresses leaking to various tools and third parties, potentially leading to spam and scams. I'm not accusing emaillistverify of engaging in such activities, but by retaining your data unnecessarily and sharing it with third parties, you never know where your data ends up. Additionally, you can't even delete your data yourself. Here's another example: On a separate occasion, I encountered a problem when uploading a CSV file to their system. I contacted support again, and the first question they asked was, "Can you attach the file in the chat?" This is yet another major failure. A customer should never be asked to share confidential data through a chat program. In the end, it turned out that the problem lied with the upload process they use, Filestack.io. Yes, they rely on another third party to handle the file uploads to their servers. So, your data is dispersed across multiple platforms, you can't delete it yourself, and they don't treat your data confidentially. Of course, they may respond to this review and potentially deny these claims. However, remember that I have warned you here—don't compromise your customers' data.
