"Eddie gets me to the part where I get to tell the story"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Eddie?

I've been editing since 2003 and I reach for the newest tool every time the craft shifts. Eddie handles the work I used to dread on a big interview project, the transcribing, the tagging, the pulling of selects. I fed it fifteen interviews, shaped a string-out from what came back, and prompted my way down to a rough cut before handing off to Resolve and Final Cut for finishing. The value isn't Eddie making the cut, it's Eddie getting me to the cut. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Eddie?

I pushed it hard enough to hit its ceilings. I ran into a timeline length cap and an XML export bug that cost me a weekend and a hand-rebuilt cut. To their credit there were updates almost every night, but if you're throwing a genuinely massive project at it, expect to find some rough edges. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Promising Concept, Disappointing Results and Frustrating Customer Support"
0/5
What do you like best about Eddie?

The concept behind Eddie is excellent. I was especially interested in its ability to search through large amounts of interview footage, identify specific topics and stories, and quickly assemble relevant clips. For an interview-heavy documentary project, the potential to save hours of manually searching through footage is what initially attracted me to the software. What do you dislike about Eddie?

My biggest disappointment was that the AI-generated rough cuts simply weren't usable for the documentary-style project I was creating. Despite spending a significant amount of time experimenting with prompts and trying to refine the results, the edits lacked the human element, emotional connections, and storytelling that I needed. Instead of saving me time, I ultimately felt that I had wasted quite a few hours trying to make the workflow work before returning to editing manually in Final Cut Pro.

Even more frustrating has been the customer service. After I stopped using Eddie, I was charged $199 in July and another $199 in August. I contacted support on August 17 asking them to consider a courtesy refund for those two essentially unused months. I fully acknowledged that their normal policy may be that subscription charges are non-refundable. I simply asked them to review my lack of usage and consider an exception.

I received no response. I followed up again and still received no response. I have now contacted them multiple times over more than a month without even an acknowledgment.

I can accept a company declining a refund request. What I find extremely frustrating is spending hundreds of dollars on a service and not being able to get a response from customer support at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
