What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?

It create 2d sketch into 3d very quick with its feature of just drag arrow which save time to use command for extrude purpose also it can cut material by reversing arrow Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?

Ii is very simple tool to design product, fixtures, gauges, stamping and punching tools. I like surfacing functions due to much more easier job than CATIA. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?

When I do the assembly there is no option to import step file directly. Annual service pack upgrade is too expensive to me. Due to that I prefer Solid Works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?

We use Siemens Solid Edge as the backbone of our product and factory development lifecycle, from concept through to commissioning. All machinery layouts, custom equipment designs, and factory expansion models are developed in Solid Edge, allowing us to rapidly iterate designs, validate fit within real-world constraints, and maintain a single, accurate digital representation of our production environment.

By integrating Simcenter FLOEFD directly within Solid Edge, we move beyond traditional CAD into simulation-driven design. We actively simulate airflow, temperature distribution, and humidity behaviour across our processing and packaging environments—critical for drying performance, product consistency, and hygiene compliance. This enables us to identify issues such as condensation risk, airflow inefficiencies, and thermal inconsistencies before physical implementation.

The value this delivers is substantial:

Reduced risk: Problems are identified and solved digitally before capital is committed or equipment is installed.

Faster decision-making: Design iterations that would take weeks physically are completed in hours.

Optimised performance: Equipment and facility layouts are engineered for real operating conditions, not assumptions.

Cost efficiency: Minimises rework, avoids overdesign, and improves ROI on major capital investments.

The UI has been greatly improved in its feel and operation. Making it more modern and user friendly. Really happy about the dark mode addition as well.

In overall the performance has improved on the operation of the software. Enjoying the performance mode it has to offer.

Pricing is ok but feel like better options and bundles should be created to allow for adding more employees easier.

The Siemens Academy use to be the go to but needs more work done, cannot wait for the revamp to be completed. There are tons of resources online that are helpful when required.

New AI features are really helpful for speeding up daily use!

The most distinctive feature of Solid Edge is how it bridges the gap between direct modeling and history-based (ordered) parametric design. What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?

For me, the single best core feature of Solid Edge is still Synchronous Technology. In contrast to traditional history-based (ordered) CAD systems—where modifying an early feature can cause the downstream feature tree to break—synchronous modeling allows you to edit the geometry directly, in real time. What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?

Switching between Synchronous (direct) and Ordered (history-tree) modes often means changing your design approach halfway through a project. When I open complex models created by someone else that mix both paradigms, tracing parameter dependencies and figuring out what will break which relations can turn into a tedious troubleshooting exercise. On organic shapes or highly complex, intersecting surfaces, the Steering Wheel snap controls can also feel erratic at times, which ends up pushing me back to more traditional sketch-based workflows. Reusable component library — quick drag-and-drop access to standard parts (fasteners, bearings, etc.) without rebuilding them from scratch

Integration with the synchronous/ordered modeling workflow — it plays nicely whether you're doing history-based or direct editing

Searchable, categorized parts tree — easier to navigate than digging through folders manually

Library organization can get messy — once you add a lot of custom parts, navigation and search within DesignCenter reportedly gets clunky compared to dedicated PDM tools

Limited metadata/tagging — searching by custom properties isn't as flexible as people want, making it harder to find a specific part among hundreds

What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?

I use Designcenter Solid Edge for designing 3D models, especially for sheet metal, parts, and systems with electronics. I appreciate how it helps create very close to accurate mechanical drawings with minimal tweaks needed. I like being able to visualize the system before starting a project, as it allows us to integrate electronics and mechanical components together in our mechatronics lab. The assembly system with magnetic snap is intuitive, and the UI is nicely done. I enjoy being able to perform FEA, topology optimization, and parametric analysis directly in Designcenter Solid Edge without needing to use another tool, which simplifies the process significantly. I think the way that we can define dimensions in Designcenter Solid Edge could be improved. Also we can imporve the way to naviagte to a certain feature right now it takes a while to learn how to get there. Maybe it can follow the same format as other software?
