## Datomic Reviews
  ### 1. Perfect data management tool that is well suited for high throughput and low latency

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhinav M. | Senior Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Datomic?**

This tools offers a concise way to express complex data queries and transformations. It follows ACID properties which makes it perfect for data management. It offers immutability and referential transparency for a decentralized approach to data ecosystem.

It also offers undisturbed data replication and syncronization across distributed systems. It is popular because of log-oriented data storage which is a new way to store data to make it faster to store and access. It is perfect for banking transactions. It is easier to integrate with existing codebases with minimal syntax change.

Every transaction is automatically timestamped enabling users to query the database at any point in time with much ease. It was easier to implement. We used it quite often. Customer support is good.

**What do you dislike about Datomic?**

It is difficult to switch from traditional database to Datomic's database implementation and management. It has a steep learning curve. It is difficult to master the tool due to its unconventional data storage strategies. Good trainings are hard to find on youtube.

It is costly to implement Datomic. Not suited for very small companies with hardly any data volume.

It is scalable, but the UI can be better.

**What problems is Datomic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datomic offers a new way to store data which is faster to access. It has built-in cache service and auditing service. We used the new client library to create light weight nodes and microservices. We integrated it with our POWER BI reports to generate beautiful graphs for data analysis. It is highly scalable.

  ### 2. Datomic : Revolutionizing Database Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Suyash J. | Application Development Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Datomic?**

Seperation of Reads and Writes, makes consistent while quries can be scaled out across many processors.
Easy to write query with Datalog. Easy to intergrate with any other database such as Amazon DynamoDB, PostgreSQL and many more.

**What do you dislike about Datomic?**

The learning curve for Datomic can be steep, espacially for developers who are not familiar with functional programming or immutable data concepts.

**What problems is Datomic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datomic is perticularly useful for application that require strong consistency, complex querying and ability to analyze historical data. It properly manages ACID transaction which provide reliablity and consistency for data operations.

  ### 3. Amazing product , please try and suggest others too

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Poonam K. | Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Datomic?**

One of the most helpful aspects of Datomic is its temporal nature, allowing you to query data at different points in time. This provides a historical perspective on changes, aiding in debugging, auditing, and understanding data evolution. Additionally, its scalable and distributed architecture supports efficient handling of large datasets across multiple nodes.

**What do you dislike about Datomic?**

Some users find Datomic's learning curve to be a challenge, as its unique approach to data modeling and querying may require a shift in mindset compared to traditional databases. Additionally, licensing costs could be perceived as a drawback for some, especially in comparison to open-source alternatives.

**What problems is Datomic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datomic addresses business problems related to data consistency, scalability, and historical analysis. Its temporal database model helps in understanding and managing changes to data over time, which is crucial for auditing, compliance, and historical analysis. The distributed and scalable nature of Datomic supports businesses dealing with large datasets, ensuring performance and availability. Overall, it offers solutions for enterprises requiring a robust, scalable, and temporally aware database system.

  ### 4. One stop solution for data storage

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Datomic?**

I have used Datomic fir my freelance project first and then suggested it to my company because of some if the most useful features it possess. These include data shredding support, time based facts support.
I love how flexible ut is in terms of queries and joins and ACID transactions.
In addition it is highly available, distributed storage service.

**What do you dislike about Datomic?**

I believe there is not enough about Datomic and how it can be useful anywhere on the internet. This could be because it is yet not used by many organizations and hence not many reviews and use cases are available online about it.
But that way people would never know that there ia a one stop solution for all their data storage related problems.

**What problems is Datomic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Datomic solves several challenges in traditional database systems. It taps Immutability at its core. It's data model is based out of immutable facts, which follows hte principle that once data us added, it never changes.

AWS built in structure is why we use it in our organization and it has fulfilled our needs

**What do you dislike about Datomic?**

The webpage of the atomic on Google does not contain enough information about the software itself. I would recommend to have more information provided on a Google search for any browse engine search so that people interested can know more about the application itself.

**What problems is Datomic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At Amazon, we use the Tomic because of its AWS-based built structure that helps us easily integrate the Tomic in our systems. Our IT team uses the Tomic for various purposes one of the most important one is sharing of data between platforms with security in the integration, the data can be shared between platforms, and can also be changed and managed between those platforms without impacting the root data that we have saved in our systems.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marilia M. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Datomic?**

Easy to use and find data. It suits our business area, where we need to have everything documented for security, legal and compliance. Not heavy like competitors.

**What do you dislike about Datomic?**

Not so easy to find documentation or courses/bootcamp especially free. It's hard to get the employee prepared to use it. I would like to see some datomic official content.

**What problems is Datomic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving all data for compliance porpuses. It is easy to search for the data you are looking for. We are more productive using Datomic than competitor's products.

  ### 24. Great tech, great dev experience, poor deployment options due to licensing model

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2016

**What do you like best about Datomic?**

Database as an immutable data structure, powerful query abilities, time travel are all amazing features.

**What do you dislike about Datomic?**

It's not open source, so it's not feasible tech to use for a product's core infrastructure, seeing what happened to other proprietary databases when they get bought out. Licensing model also makes deployment rather inconvenient and full of questionable implications for distribution (i.e. are we allowed to put it up in a docker container on docker hub? does that count as distributing it without permission?).

**What problems is Datomic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've mostly been using it for a few early prototypes using Clojure & ClojureScript, and the immutable database semantics fits perfectly with the language. Unfortunately we decided to go with Postgres in the end due to licensing concerns.
