"From hero to zero - Pricing hikes now make Comet Backup untenable for many organisations"
0/5
What do you like best about Comet Backup?

Flexible storage options.

Can host on Linux, or other OSes if you prefer.

Rebranding options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Comet Backup?

Comet Backup's recent pricing changes are disgraceful.

Simple advice, do not base your backup strategy on this product.

Many companies who have been using it for a long time have just experienced a massive 'rug pull', courtesy of exorbitant price hikes for self-hosting.

Comet are trying to portray these price changes as beneficial, and claim that some companies have expressed positive views on them. The spin is strong at Comet now over these changes, but it's overwhelmingly a negative move.

Pricing increases are to be expected, but this particular change is egregiously calculated.

On principle we have no other option but to consider, and migrate, to other solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent white-labeled solution"
4/5
What do you like best about Comet Backup?

I've been using Comet for about a year now, I administer it for my clients so I'm in it weekly to check on backups and perform updates.

Comet backup stands apart in it's ability to offer the end user a simple and effective backup/restore solution with very little complexity. From an administrators point of view, the installation was simple and well packaged. Updates are well documented and they offer two tracks to use.

Customer support was quick and effective when I needed to ask simple questions regarding restoring to VMWare.

The white-label features a welcomed plus and it's incredibly easy to integrate into your stack. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Comet Backup?

I would have liked to see an option to restore backups from a central panel to a custom location. Currently you need to isntall the backup client on a machine and login with an account that has access to the backups in order to restore them.

This process is a bit odd when compared to other vendors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Pretty powerful, but you have to be willing to learn/self-support"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Comet Backup?

The tool itself is super helpful and runs reliably and quickly. The upload and download are quick and the few times I've needed to do a restoration operation, it has worked great! Documentation is fantastic if you know what you're looking for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Comet Backup?

Installation of the self-hosted option is pretty rough if you're unfamiliar, but the included documentation helped get it all done the right way. That said, if there are issues, you're sort of on your own. I have only had a few problems since coming on board, but the few things I have had to deal with have been a little like pulling teeth to get solid support from the team (between different time zones and long ticket response times). Their self-help info is great, but you have to know what to look for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comet Backup: A complete and reliable solution for MSP backup"
5/5
What do you like best about Comet Backup?

Comet Backup proves to be an ideal MSP backup solution for IT service companies, offering complete visibility over our clients' backups. The platform's versatility is impressive, allowing the backup of virtual machines, Microsoft 365 environments, SQL databases, as well as files and folders. The backups performed are not only reliable but also benefit from a 30-day retention, which ensures additional security. The encryption option enhances data confidentiality, thus meeting high security standards. The ability to back up to external media and store on S3 storage offers appreciable flexibility. Moreover, the technical support, although not French-speaking, stands out for its efficiency and commitment to users. Finally, the solution is very affordable, making it accessible even for companies with budget constraints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Comet Backup?

The main downside lies in the fact that the technical support communicates only in English. Although their efficiency is undeniable, the language barrier can sometimes be an obstacle for those who do not master the language. A multilingual support option would be a welcome addition to ensure that all users can fully benefit from this excellent backup solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

4/5
What do you like best about Comet Backup?

Is compatible with different operating systems, facilitating its adaptation in the company, provides a high level of security giving peace of mind to both the company and customers, technical support responds assertively to any inconvenience, excellent value for money Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Comet Backup?

The learning curve is intermediate; although technical support is available to effectively solve problems, the interface lacks customization, and sometimes, when updating, it presents failures Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
