## Cisco Secure IPS (NGIPS) Reviews
  ### 1. offers a logical & essential progression of capabilities needed to protect network emerging threats.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Cisco Secure IPS (NGIPS)?**

As cyberattacks evolve, network security requires unparalleled visibility and intelligence covering all threats for comprehensive protection. And with differing organizational responsibilities and agendas, you need a consistent security enforcement mechanism.Cisco is number one in the technical support. It's good technical support and this is actually a problem when we do the recruitment for some other products. Other products you are on hold forever and the support might be not the best compared to Cisco. These increasing operational demands call for a renewed focus on dedicated Secure IPS to provide a deeper level of security and visibility for the enterprise. The features that I find most valuable are the DDoS protection, IPS/IDS, and Firepower for web application filtering and their fingerprints are good in terms of how they whitelist and blacklist. In the virtual deployment, you have a couple of choices depending on your needs and how much bandwidth you have that needs to be inspected.Technical support is quite good. With firewalls, the last cases I had with Cisco were professionally handled quite quickly and it was great.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Secure IPS (NGIPS)?**

The file trajectory, the trace in contamination files, could be improved.

**What problems is Cisco Secure IPS (NGIPS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Patient privacy is our more priority. The system can be provided to confidence to us and protect that sensitive information.

  ### 2. IPS definitions are available/patched immediately but some attacks as experinced aren't neutralised

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aitizaz S. | IT and Cloud Network Security Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Cisco Secure IPS (NGIPS)?**

Customization and pre-processor rules. Well-managed portal to effectively identify signatures. High throughput and performance.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Secure IPS (NGIPS)?**

Port scan rules have been causing many problems initially. It was either disabled or limited to specific flows that controlled it. As experienced, some signature rules failed to protect the vulnerability attack of remote code execution at Windows 2013 server. The signatures were patched and enabled, but required protection wasn't achieved.

**What problems is Cisco Secure IPS (NGIPS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Effective parameter security and intrusions identification. Industry first High-throughput IPS that could provide intrusion analysis of every flow into our orgniztion with very high number of enabled signatures. With pre-processor rules we enabled pre-defined rule for our legacy telco applictions.

  ### 3. Empowering defenders - NGIPS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aayush c. | System Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Cisco Secure IPS (NGIPS)?**

Today's complex networks demand a robust threat detection and containment approach. Safeguarding network assets and data from today's threats requires detailed visibility into all network layers, content and resources no matter where they are deployed.
A well designed NGIPS can provide visibility, threat detection and response that remain unavailable to firewall inspection.
An NGIPS can be set to fail-open so traffic will always flow and business is not impacted by NGIPS failure.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Secure IPS (NGIPS)?**

Enabling IPS functions can impose considerable performance degradation on traffic.

**What problems is Cisco Secure IPS (NGIPS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There were many port scan events which are all blocked now by checking signature
All malicious ips are blocked automatically. List updates after every 2 hours.
Now we have a clean path to see threats and harden defenses

  ### 4. NGIPS is recommended when it is part of an Ngfw because the individual set of rules can contain IPS

**What problems is Cisco Secure IPS (NGIPS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have PCI audit in which having an NGIPS for healthcare, banks and different type of customers this is required because of the PI/PII information protection. Benefits on actual protection whether on a DMZ/campus/ data center network

As usual, cisco takes (buy) good product (Sourcefire) and in few years it transforms it to overpriced faulty technology with terrible support.

**What problems is Cisco Secure IPS (NGIPS) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Low rate of malware detection, faulty OS, sometimes faulty hardware, epic was when cisco says that the device we claim to have, we cannot have because it belongs to another customer in US. Well, we have to send them pictures that we really have it.
