Additionally, the Management console went through many changes during the time when Cisco bought Snort. Similar systems from other vendors, in terms of age and price, didn't have these issues. Cisco does a good job of this if you need to completely close the perimeter or leave 1 or 2 ports open (80, for example). But if more, you will immediately get a bottleneck of performance.
